Really? But then they added vertical lines on the other sides of the building, which was not in the original plan. It's like they wanted to add on a little flair to the building once they removed the braces and the needles, perhaps to make it a little more distinguishable from the other WTC towers. It still looks okay - but the braces would have been nice.

Foster's 2WTC was 1358' at one point, just 10' shorter than 1WTC

If you see it in person, it looks amazing.

I think that 2 WTC will be spectacular.

Wait this in in the supertall construction section now? why?

Do we even know if it's still a supertall?

Because the foundation has been built, and it's ready to rise... and yes, it will be a supertall.

The foundation has been built for like over a decade... and there's not even "on hold" in the title. Just find it a little odd, this is clearly not under construction unless I missed something, which is why I asked.

We do know that it will be a supertall. It's been on hold forever, like the rest of the supertalls in this forum that are on hold. We just don't move a bunch of threads back and forth, because once something is already under construction, it's no longer in "proposal" status. It's waiting for completion. Sort of the way a game that's in a rain delay is still being played, despite the delay.

It should be built to the original design or at least height. Lower Manhattan should have its complete anchor back.

No, the Foster design is coming back with some updates and possible height increase.

You'd think Silverstein would want to see the complex complete before he passes, I'd imagine he's doing everything in his power to make 2 and 5 happen before then.

I don't get why mods let people randomly bump this thread with no relevant news.

I think he was asking how come the thread titles for Toronto's The One, Dubai's The Pentominium, and many others say "ON HOLD" but this one doesn't.

It's on hold, and has been on hold, which is why it's usually locked. Unless people have something to add.

NYC’s iconic towers are reopening with new luxe perks

Visitors to the World Trade Center will have no shortage of sauce.

A brand new 5,000-square-foot Oculus Beer Garden has popped up at 2 World Trade Center Plaza at the corner of Church and Vesey streets.

But that is just the beginning, according to the building owner.

“The future 2 World Trade Center is being redesigned by Foster & Partners to be the healthiest and most sustainable building on the planet,” said Dara McQuillan a spokesperson for Silverstein Properties, which owns 2, 3 and 4 World Trade Center and will eventually develop 5 World Trade Center with Brookfield.

Well, to me, I thought this building would be completed before 2030.

This should be a mixed use with office, hotel, and condos. If it has only 1.5m sf of office space, it can be built on spec. There would be great demand for the other 1m sf of condos and hotel.
