Even in 1980 the other side of downtown (not shown) was quite built up, although the boom didn't really become impressive until a couple of years later.

And of course, for years, there have been multiple skylines around the city, the most impressive ones being Uptown and the Med Center. So it's not just "starting to look like an actual city". It's been getting that way for a long time.

I guess a grin and a wink emoji isn't enough to denote tongue-in-cheek sarcasm these days

Actually, it’s a cartoon city! (Imagine the buildings bouncing around like they’re happy and dancing.)

From a landing at Fort Lauderdale airport: Guitar Hotel in the left foreground, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood Beach, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach (the big group), Bal Harbour, Miami Beach....all the way down to Miami in the far top of the pic. You can probably make out Coral Gables even farther to the top right.

Denver has such a nondescript skyline. They could really use a new signature tower.

Still trying to figure out what city or state you're located in. Hard to tell from your comments.

Anyone know?

Boston is special. I visited in September 2022 and fell in love with the city.

Denver's skyline is actually very nice from some angles.

Here's a really nice drone video of SLC showing downtown and the new construction: (June 2023)

Thanks for the beautiful photo! Do you have one showing the skyline spreading out along the river?

Not from that angle recently. I do have this one from April from the other side of downtown and the river.

Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood. They are also building a guitar shaped hotel in Las Vegas.

Its the Guitar Hotel which is part of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Casino complex (there is another smaller hotel tower as well).
