Whistler related, the town is preparing for future wildfires. Last year the Pemberton Valley fire came close to jumping over to Whistler Valley, so the risk is very real.

I kind of wish something like this was actually happening. (Not sure why I am thinking about this in the middle of 30 degree weather.)

Maybe not like Disneyland, but more like Aulani.

Hopefully not the guys who owned Grouse Mountain for a hot minute.

Kind of odd experienced players like the Aquilinis and Gaglardis botched this up.

Apparently, running a stadium doesn't prepare you for running a ski lodge.

Stadiums, rental apartments, hotels, restaurants….more than enough relevant experience

Sounds like they just decided to walk away from the project.

Northland Properties owns the Sandman Inns, Sutton Place, and various restaurants (Moxies, Denny's, Chop) as well as Grouse Mountain (currently) and the Revelstoke Mountain Resort)

Seems like the project has been in the works since the 1990s

Of course Whistler doesn’t want competition. They want to keep being able to charge $300 a day for skiing.
