Thanks for the feedback guys.
Quote:
Map looks good, it should give an interesting looking city! Maybe the yellow area on the right at the tip of the cape could be a park with a stadium. Maybe the stadium could be right at the waterline.
I think that a Baseball stadium would look great there.

Quote:
It would be nice if , the yellow area on the left was a mid-density residential area with somewhat historical rowhouses and treelined streets. I admit that that isn't simple and easy, so it doesn't meet your criteria.
Well see more when I get a better feeling of the grid, but maybe a few rowhomes near the canal/baseball stadium would work.

Quote:
I know you love Chicago & its river but I find the canal a bit unrealistic in that location, but hey, San Antonio has one right in it's downtown area, so do whatever you feel like doing!
Mehh, it was originally a port town and the canal was renovated throughout the 60's 70's and 80's. (thats my way of BS'ing in a reason for it)

Quote:
Austin do you have a place for your stadiums yet?(or is the histoeic baseball)The yellow could be that or like Vellu said maybe rowhouse or something like that?
\
Thanks. Bassicly what i said to Vellu applies here.

Here are a few new block/progress reports.
Main street block 1 with Kimmel tower and the Oil and gas building. Kimmel toer backs up to the river, if that gives you an idea of where everything is.

Schembri street block 2, diagonally across the street from the last picture. Ero3 is on this block, the cities tallest. Also the westworth tower.

Schembri Street block 3, with a large plaza and a cool sculpture. The two towers are the National Bank tower (black) and Trinity National Bank Tower(tan).

And finally is Schembri Street block 4, With John Ritter tower and two others.
\

So thats all the progress for now, Ill continue to put the individual blocks together and work on the landscape. I will also give more information on each building.

Nice map, but I feel like it needs more smoothness. You will round those edges right? And the flat shore on the downtown should be more of a wave. Maybe a round curve? Oh, and the river should be more random and natural looking, unless it's a canal, but I don't see why a canal should be right next to a bay.

It will definitely create an interesting skyline. Can't wait too see it!

My favorites are the National Bank Tower and the art deco building in that last shot. The John Ritter looks very good as well - looks very Texan.

What sort of new stuff are you getting?

Will you be able to render? I hope you can put all your work into one scene with your new stuff

This block has two large, boxy skyscrapers. Thee taller of the two, National Bank Tower is a Minoru Yamasaki tower built in 1952, makeing it the tallest in the city at the time. It has a distinct "ladder" pattern of white aluminum over the black glass and concrete. The other tower is Trinity National bank tower. built in 1960, it has never had the same name for more than 10 years. The most recent change was made with the government takeover of the old bank. There is also a large patterned plaza with a unamed sculpture, often known as "Rechoose" because of problems with it in internet databases.

I appreciate the attention groundwork in your models. The streets and trees are well placed, and really help provide perspective.

The left (dark colored) tower that you just posted above on the left reminds me of the IBM Building in Seattle, which is one of my favorite real world buildings of its class in my area.

Talk about a blast from the past; by far your best city. Any chance you’ll be working on it consistently again?

Yes, Im going through old backup files I put al over the house and fixing them up. Im working on making them renderable aswell, but no promises.

If you notice Im running the files with shadows now with not as many problems with lag.

I might just start a whole new(smaller city) just to experiment and get my bearings back

The National Bank Tower has always been one of my favorite TC buildings along with that art deco tower which name I can't remember. Hopefully you can make some renders.
