Kinda looks like it but Looks good to me. I will eventually move to the downtown area, preferentially, Hemisfair Park. Tired of the Suburbs and the hour + commutes.

It's your basic urban residential design, I prefer adaptive re-use developments. If that is a garage, its surely an interesting place for it.

What is going on with Hemisfair right now? I remember reading that the bill to allow for a small percentage of hotel getting ok'ed, but has everything passed the Senate? Can't wait to see that area get moving.

Oh, that would be cool. I always hoped they'd keep the federal courthouse. It's a unique building and has some cool bones.

Sculley backed the Joske tower on the condition that they go with alternative two. Alternative two was reducing the small tower by two stories and increasing the taller tower by one story.

So basically downtown is getting a 31 story tower. Probably close to 410 feet.

Thanks for writing in. I think we'll see another design soon.

I agree that we need to move forward. I also believe there's a sweet spot that we can get to.

I appreciate you taking the time to reach out.

Construction has begun on River House, a 261-unit apartment complex that straddles Roy Smith Street at the San Antonio River, adjacent to 1221 Broadway, and across the river from the San Antonio Museum of Art. The first move-ins are expected in late summer 2014, and the entire project is due for completion in early 2015.

“The River House project will continue the momentum and redevelop a key section of downtown with additional high-quality housing options in the River North area,” Mayor Julián Castro said in a press release.

River House will offer studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments.

“We have not finalized our pricing, but it’s fair to say it’s market-rate rent consistent with other projects in the neighborhood,” said John Beauchamp, chief investment office with Hixon Properties Inc., a partner in the development.

The apartments themselves will boast 10-foot ceilings, granite and quartz counter tops, walk-in closets, and stainless appliances. Amenities for River House residents include an infinity pool, fitness center and clubhouse.

The total cost of the project is not being disclosed; though it was listed as a $31 million project to the City Council in May 2012, when it was due for incentives package.

Elan Riverwalk gets the greenlight.

BY SCOTT HUDDLESTON : SEPTEMBER 4, 2013 : Updated: September 4, 2013\11:23pm

On a 5-3 vote, a city panel cleared the way for demolition of the 1950s Univision building downtown, to allow for construction of a 350-unit apartment complex on the River Walk.

The Historic and Design Review Commission weighed the fate of a building that gave birth to Univision, the nation's leading Spanish-language television network, just days after San Antonio hosted the Festival People en Español in celebration of Latino culture.

The San Antonio Conservation Society requested a finding of historic significance for the structure, with support from local Hispanic preservationists and the Texas Historical Commission, which has said the building is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.

The owner, Univision, and the developer opposed designation.

“We feel the building itself is not what constitutes the historical relevance of Univision in San Antonio,” Luis Patiño, senior vice president of the Univision Television Group, told the panel.

The city's Office of Historic Preservation staff had recommended against a landmark declaration.

Representatives for the developer, Greystar of Charleston, S.C., told the board the transmitter tower on the site would be kept and its history memorialized with a marker, display or other permanent fixture.

San Antonio's push for downtown jobs complicated by lack of space

Quote:
W. Scott Bailey
Sept.6. 2013

Elected officials have committed millions of dollars over the last year to attract more residential development to San Antonio's center city. More urban housing developments are planned.

But a rise in the number of people who are choosing to live downtown will create new challenges for the nation’s seventh largest city. High atop that list will be the growing demand for more center-city jobs. The City of San Antonio may have to commit millions more dollars in incentives to attract the employers needed to support and sustain a growing downtown residential population.

Six Flags plans more investment in Fiesta Texas theme park

Quote:
W. Scott Bailey
Sept. 6. 2013

More changes are in the works for Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The next wave of improvements will include an expanded White Water Bay water park.

In 2014, visitors to the park will have an opportunity to ride Bahama Blaster, the first multi-lane, free-fall water slide in Texas.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to bring additional thrilling attractions to our guests,” says Six Flags Fiesta Texas President Martin Bozer. “With Bahama Blaster we are accomplishing that by introducing a new technology in extreme slides.”

The Hyatt Riverwalk across the street is 193 feet tall, so the new Hilton looks to be around 170 feet or so. Not bad actually.
