Look like some development is coming to the corner of John and Wilson, from the excellent OfficeArchitecture, they'll be having a pre-consultation meeting at the next DRP on the 13th:

From the meeting agenda I can confirm the site in red is part of the development, but I do not know if they've acquired the one house in blue to complete their lot assembly. We'll have to wait and see.

I think any development will be better than what's there right now... glad to see this parking lot replaced. Hopefully sooner than later.

Another lot in the sea of lots gone.. exciting stuff.

The city probably needs to start thinking of building a big new public garage in the area though.. even with the LRT I can’t imagine all this parking loss now isn’t causing issues.

They need to force public parking to be available in the basements of these buildings and willing to pay for it.

Im an advocate for cycling, and walkable streets, but the reality is that Hamilton isn't at the point where a ton of employable people live downtown. Even in Toronto, one of the most transit, cycling and walking friendly cities, there is lots of parking available. If Hamilton wants to kill it's downtown revival and attract zero jobs they'll forget about parking. So I expect our council to do just that.

Find it! I'm kind of super excited. I live on John just north of Cannon so with the Barton development, this, Rebecca street and the John Rebecca park, I feel like we won't always have to go west to James to walk to central downtown.

Thanks for this. I didn't know what I was expecting on this site but it's good for tall towers. Can't wait to see the design progress, but I'm a bit disappointed the tabletop develops further.

You'd be surprised. I've brought up parking downtown being a problem that causes office vacancy and I've been waved off relating to how we shouldn't be encouraging driving. Which, hey I'm all for, but then we need to invest in transit and cycling into the downtown.

based on this image and the various colours, these appear to be schematic drawings showing the various uses proposed...they aren't 'renderings' or architectural detail drawings.
