Just south of W North Loop Rd, between S 48th St and S E Loop Rd.
The "Loop Road" in the area isn't the most appealing name to me..

To be more specific, it's going to be just south of Wild Horse Pass-the Gila River Hotels & Casino-which itself is just south of Ahwatukee

So, about a mile south of the 202, and just west of I10.

Phoenix apparently back in the running for MLS? Sacramento's money man backed out due to COVID so there is an open slot.

https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/Socc...9841618323021/

I wonder whether Phoenix Rising still has a stadium plan though with the move to Wild Horse Pass.

Man, I really hope so. I think we all know that Phoenix is due for an MLS slot. If an arena plan is still in the works, I hope it's not at Wild Horse though. It needs to be more centralized and I hope the original vacant land (or somewhere nearby) could be put back in play.

I thought Rising had expansion built into their WHP move?

Diamondbacks are seeking tax bond to renovate Chase Field and potentially add a hotel on Jefferson and 7th adjacent to the stadium. If approved, bond requirements would keep the DBacks downtown for the next 30 years.

That's awesome news! Adding a new hotel and retail would really help activate that area even when games aren't taking place. You know that would probably end up being a feature hotel, standard Hilton, JW Marriott, etc. and not anything small and cheap.

Nice! I'd love to see a JW downtown, preferably like the one in DT Austin, although that particular lot would seem too small for something like that.

This is awesome news and if legislation passes, will kill all those silly rumors about DBacks moving to Scottsdale. They were never going anywhere.

DBacks need to follow suit like the Suns and open a sportsbook to bring in additional revenue.

This is interesting. I think I would like to see what they have planned with the hotel and retail. I also would like to see rendering on how they plan to cut 6,000 to 10,000 seats. 500 million is renovations tells me that this will be a massive overhaul of the stadium. I am very interested in seeing the plans.

I always thought that corner would be great for a hotel if a developer is able to work with a strange shaped lot.

How many seats are in the 200 level? Turning that level into open concourse food and beverage with some suites seems trendy.

It'd be nice if there was a lot to work with. Chase would make sense literally anywhere in the Valley with its mini-moat on Jefferson and surface parking the same way its design is particularly obnoxious downtown. There's some fire lane weirdness with how the actual perimeter of the building works no doubt, but I'm optimistic they can redevelop all that crap.

The elephant calf in the room is the nitty gritty of the details. A stadium/theme park/entertainment district on the Chase property might actually need them to RFP a hotel concept and go through all the state-mandated public dispositions process or else Goldwater will likely have a field day.

I wish the bipartisan knuckle draggers in the Senate Finance Committee would be thinking of that rather than asinine comparisons to TIF, needless stonewalling from the Democrat, or obnoxious sanctimony and usual screeching from Medusa Ugenti.

Goldwater won't lift a finger in opposition. Ken Kedrick's wife is on their board.

Interesting... It's just unfortunate the ballpark can't be rebuilt. It seems like alot of trouble for a band-aid solution. But I get it... that's billions to do.

I think that it is fair to tax fans (ones actually using the amenity) vs. general population I just wish they could somehow tear the damn thing down and start over with hotels, retail, residential, etc. Pipe dream, I know.

Another thought. I wonder if the Coyotes look to this new funding mechanism to help locate and build their arena in a new theme park district? Sounds like they could meet all the requirements (sports facility and must be built within Phoenix city limits) and Morello is a Billionaire so probably has the financial backing to demonstrate its ability to repay the bonds.

Yotes would be cool in Tempe, but I think that ship has sailed. So... yea, Downtown would be the next best option.

I hope they build a 30 story trendy W Hotel right by Chase Field. But, I am telling you the best place for the Coyotes would be to build an arena where the South Convention Center is. This would legitimately create a sports entertainment district, where the Suns, D-Backs, and Coyotes would triangulate one another. This would be my dream scenario.
