Imo it needs some sort of cornice on top.

Sure, but I think it looks good regardless, to be honest.

Eh traditionalist architect vs modern architect hehe.. I just don't feel it contains enough character to blend in with the rest of the streetscape... I feel it needs a bit more.

The others have this cool combination of old vs new - but its more old than new - the new accents it - with this one it feels like their old accents the new. Just not a huge fan of that - and I find over the years buildings that are purely modern age terribly.

Just the fact it is against something so ornate just makes it look PAINFULLY modern. Then you add the brick wall on the side of it and the building just feels like if it's gonna go modern it hasn't gone enough and if it's trying to be a combination of old vs new it hasn't gone enough old to accent the new. I'd personally love to see some of the terracotta design elements onto the stone facade instead of just making it clinical in its architectural shape.

Will be great to have this section filled in and construction starting at the liuna towers down the street. When is the annex supposed to be completed?

They left the back corner of the building (part of the Lister) with the black cladding exposed. I wonder if they plan to connect the two through a doorway.

Great to see the final gap closed up on that side of the street. I barely recognize King William any more, I had become way too accustomed to the abandoned buildings and empty spaces.

Yeah so had most of us.. the old zellers lot is still a painful reminder of what once was though..

Anyone know what the progress is on the building they were renovating beside the fire station that homegrown was supposed to move into?

I saw on Cameron Kroetch's Facebook someone commented that they were waiting for approval for something for the city.

I hope RC and Hughson start construction at the same time, would be cool to see two cranes within Gore park.

Definitely terrific to see progress. I hope this really works with the restored Lister.

On the right flank of thomax's referenced photo: Templar Flats still wows me. Nicest "small" development the city has seen since... since........

I wonder why they went with formed concrete for the structure and not something like steel or CLT. Would have been cool to have the addition to the Lister be built out of timber. This thing isn’t going to top out until June if this weather keeps up.

you know it amazes me that "timber" seems to be all the rage now considering the entire downtown burned down after 2 fires swept through all of downtown in the 1800s.. what makes building out of wood so much safer now..? It's the whole reason all the old buildings that are left downtown are built out of stone and brick, to PREVENT that from happening.

Hell we still have BRICK buildings burn and collapse.
