I understand that E1, E2, and A4 will be the first parcels they will attempt to develop. I think the article also alluded that G1 will be townhomes. The proposed building next to the Russell federal building and old Southern Railroad building they just finished is not part of this master plan. I also believe the parking garage that fronts Marietta Street next to the CNN center is also under their control, so I'm not sure why it is not on this master plan. Perhaps that will be a later phase down the road since that parking garage is in good condition and is not part of the massive podium garage they are building in the Gultch.

As I recall, what they have dubbed "Centennial Yards South" was not a part of the Gulch agreement with the city and that's why it's not on the master plan. I think it further demonstrates CIM's commitment and belief in the overall project.

Hopefully this time next year it'll be a sea of cranes in the area with Signia up to a decent height.

So E1 is hotel, E2 Residential. I'm assuming A4 is office.

Looks nice.

In a dream world we'd get a couple towers over 30 floors in the development.

Is that an active train line in the bottom right, or just some containers?

The NS train line will be in an open pit between the buildings unfortunately. I gather it might be a fire hazard having a train line under the buildings, or maybe they are just saving money. Perhaps that was part of the deal with NS, or they never got air rights from NS

The shape of the hotel suggests a new atrium.

This looks like a great start for Centennial Yards.

I kind of like the idea of the rail lines running through the development. Atlanta's past surrounded by it's future!

I would like to know what provisions for the MMPT have been made, it's never mentioned.

They mentioned in a presentation that there is ‘space’ on the sidings of the NS and CSX rail lines for more rail lines and platforms, should the need ever arise. It sounds like there are no implements in centennial yards itself for rail platforms. They have to be squeezed into the existing rail ROW

Note that they are listing the first apartment development as "underway".

CIM Group Plans To Launch First 4 Ground-Up Buildings At Centennial Yards In 2022

https://www.bisnow.com/atlanta/news/...medium=twitter
Quote:
“There will be a lot of dirt moving this year,” Brian McGowan, the president of CIM's Atlanta redevelopment arm, Centennial Yards Co., said in an interview with Bisnow this week.

McGowan said the developer expects to break ground this year on a 235-unit apartment building behind the existing 99 Ted Turner Drive office building and another 50-unit project across from Elliott Street Deli & Pub in South Downtown near Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

CIM Group also expects to break ground late this year on a third, 275-unit apartment project and a 290-room hotel, both along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, McGowan said.

While construction isn't imminent, McGowan said CIM Group is in the design process to transform the former Atlanta Journal-Constitution printing press building into a 500K SF Class-A office building. McGowan said that the office project won't likely move forward without an anchor tenant signing a pre-lease deal.

So they are developing this Constitution building or are referring to a different building?

They were referring to the printing building, which is on Wall Street right behind the Georgia bar association. Parcel A4 on the diagram. My understanding is they will tear it down and build the ‘three towers’ development in its place. It looks like the park will span over the CSX line and Marta tracks.

This development is nice but I’m pretty sure the land was not part of the CIM deal. I’m sure this will get developed with all that is going on in this area. I really hope it does not get torn down- that would be a loss!
