The Bradford House

3-15-2020

A recently planted bush is blooming:

This is scheduled to open in May.
Given the current climate, however, they may not be in any hurry about the opening date.

Velocity magazine did a nice writeup on this project and the principals behind it:

photo from the article: https://www.velocityokc.com/blog/dev...opening-in-may

There is something mentioned in that article that I wasn't aware of.
Namely that the couple doing this project also were responsible for the renovation/remodel of the Flamingo Apartments.

The Flamingo Apts had a very cool renovation back in 2017.
Here's a 'before' shot:

And some 'after' shots:

The Bradford House, being a boutique hotel, is a different kind of renovation in many ways.
The emphasis here will be on luxurious surroundings and amenities, as well as connecting guests to the building's unique past.

Laud Studio is helping in the design of the new space being created at the hotel.
Here are a couple of their renderings:

Fortunately, the plants don't know or care about human problems.
They just carry on about their business...

And so, spring buds are popping out all over.

The Forum at Lincoln Plaza

The pool has been completely filled in.

One of the renderings for this project shows a larger, differently shaped pool.

Why they felt the need to fill in the old pool and create a new one... I don't know.
They must have good reasons.

Here are some other shots showing the current state of the project.

New OKC Public Schools Headquarters

3-19-2020

https://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=36988&page=3

One of the few days recently in which the sun actually popped out for awhile.

The larger beige building was originally a bank and is being renovated.
The new structure is an auditorium.

For comparison, here are pics from last June when beams for the new building were going up.

Convention Center Garage

https://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=44229&page=9

That overcast, misty, rainy atmosphere is more like what we've been seeing for the last week and a half.

The structure is starting to look like a parking garage now.
Which is not super exciting... but hey.

It will be more exciting when they start building the eight story mixed-use residential building in front of the garage.
That construction probably won't commence until the end of the year.

How is the empty plot next to the new Convention Center Garage allocated according to the Master Plan? Hotel? Residential? Park space?

An 8 story mixed use building consisting of apartments as well as restaurants/offices is planned for that lot. Construction will begin later this year or next. https://www.bing.com/images/search?v...t=0&vt=0&eim=0

Bricktown Marriott Renaissance

I came across a nice photo of this project.
It's probably from at least a week ago as the concrete for the second floor has all been set now, but still a very cool shot.

This is a busy little area of downtown as the massive renovation to the BancFirst tower is taking place just across the street.
Here's an older photo (from mid February) showing the proximity of the two construction projects:
