Those are seemingly random stock video clips. None of them are from around here.

Amusingly you see Mt Paul and the south side of the valley but in the sunset angles the entirety of Bachelor heights and the grasslands (and pretty much the entire north side of the valley) are missing.

Having out of place backgrounds and settings is nothing new for renderings / promotions.

That said with today’s availability of topographic information (Google Earth anyone?) it does puzzle me how so many marketing presentations for multimillion dollar projects can still be so wrong.

The Hive. Looks like separate elevator/stairway cores. Still forming the elevator shaft, stairway shaft is at full height. Steel halfway up.

This is a pretty cool little project. This heritage building has been sitting empty since the Keg left in 2016. It's a really nice building on the waterfront that was the original CN station for Kamloops. It's still used by the Rocky Mountain Rail Tours when they pull into town and unload passengers. There's a single set of tracks on the opposite side. Looks to be getting turned into a lounge, restaurant and distillery which I'm pretty pumped on. A new building to the left will house the distillery and will mimic the look of the station. Should be a great use to preserve the vibe of the building/area. It's right beside the Marquees on Lorne, which also looks to be putting in commercial on the ground floor. Could be the start of a cool new district.

That's cool I remember that building the last time I was there.

"The View" apartments. Was surprised to see they've started on the 4th building. The original building is on the left, 2 new rental buildings on the right that were just finished. The one under construction will be the last building. I think it's all rentals too.

Every summer for seven years ( high school thru University) I would go through those doors to apply for my summer job on the maintenance gangs. Lots of memories associated with that building

Curious, what people think about Hardie panels?

I don't mind them on smaller residential, or commercial projects (1 or 2 storey's); but, they've been getting used a lot on larger projects like this 6 storey Lightwell building. I think it looks like garbage, very messy and almost unfinished. The Lux siding on the balconies look great, but I find this building really ugly now that they put these panels up.

I agree the lightwell building is boring.there is not much thought in development in kamloops
Same old crap.City council scare big developers away, two much red tape.they don’t have any vision or drive and are as boring as the developments going on in downtown. They would be better at running a seniors home.well can’t say two much more.I might get my posts deleted again.

11-storey apartment tower on Landsdowne. Along with all the other stuff going on and the potential Kelson towers it gonna change the look of downtown quite a bit. https://www.radionl.com/2021/08/31/c...town-kamloops/

Kamloops really needs to level up the quality. Not 'luxury' levels of quality by any means, but these buildings that look like they're meant to last for 20 years are just not cutting it. Glad to see density, just wish it wasn't so poor.

Totally agree!

Every developer here uses BlueGreen Architecture and they are just terrible. Not only do they design garbage, but they replicate that garbage on every building across town.

I don't know 100% if BlueGreen designed this recent building, but would bet they did. It looks just like the garbage they design but extended an extra 6 stories up.

That makes sense. In that case, I think Kamloops could really use some outside attention. I think some outside developers using outside architects would be very beneficial!

They designed Ashley's Furniture with the one level of apartments on the top floor. Mostly a client request but it's a really bizarre design.

Another rectangle building for downtown. Looks like lightwell and “the views”ugly big sister
Must of dusted off some old design plans from the 1970’s.

I shouldn’t complain too much.It is nice to see some bigger/taller developments downtown.

No surprise the best projects (Hive & City Gardens) are designed by outside architect firms.

City Gardens DP was approved by council yesterday. Construction expected to break ground in March with the 800 car parkade.

https://www.kamloopsthisweek.com/loc...ardens-4865050

It looks like they added 2 floors to the tallest tower which is now going to be 24 storeys and the first one to go up.

Nice! Hopefully we have someone on the ground in the loops to capture this beast rise. This is a new tallest for Kamloops. Quite a big deal. Kamloops and Kelowna both seeing new tallest under construction at the same time!
