I'm walking every street in New York City

Well, not me really, but a guy there certainly is. His name is Matt Green, a Civil Engineer that already walked the entire lenght of the United States, from Rockaway Beach, Queens, New York to Rockaway Beach, Oregon.

This time he intends to walk every single street in New York City.

Quote:
I am going to walk every public street in all five boroughs of New York City, excluding only the high-speed expressways and parkways that prohibit pedestrian traffic. I will also walk every bridge with pedestrian facilities, as well as many of the multi-use greenway paths, and many of the pedestrian paths through parks and cemeteries.

It is my understanding that the total length of all the streets in NYC is somewhere in excess of 6000 miles. Add the bridges and pedestrian paths to that, as well as all the miles of streets that I will end up covering more than once, and I expect to have walked more than 8000 miles before I’m done.
As he said, he expects to walk about 8000 miles, he began on January 1st 2012, and as today, he already walked 2596 miles. At first he expected to complete his goal in about 2 years, now he updated the finishing time to 2015.

The interesting thing is that he created a blog, so everyone interested could follow him along is walk. In the mentioned blog, he publishes pictures, and sometimes videos, of the things he finds along the way. Things that could go from the smallest to the greatest, could be some panoramic views, pictures of well known monuments, etc, but also could be some little, anonymous things he finds. Things like rare mailboxes, portals, 9-11 memorials, extrange signs, murals, weirdly decorated homes or stores, special people, the fauna and flora of the city, among many other things.

It is also interesting that many times he also adds explanations and facts of the things he photographs, and links to further information.

So I created this thread to post some of the pictures he tooks, and for everyone that visit his blog to post whatever picture finds interesting.

Here's the link to his blog. I think it's worth visit.

And here' a NYT article about him made some months ago.
