Progress on The Standard-St. Louis Apartments and IKEA in Midtown/Central Corridor near St. Louis University.

Clayton-based Sangita is working with Landmark Properties, a student housing developer from Athens, Georgia. The building will have 164 units with 465 bedrooms separated into one- to four-bedroom apartments, as well as a 400-vehicle garage on Forest Park Avenue that's expected to open August 1.

The Standard looks cheap as hell. I hope that's not "the standard." It reminds me of the student apartments my ex lived in while attending Illinois State University. I'm pretty sure it was made of Celotex, glue and particle board, the place was worse than a barracks. They had to redo the facade three times because the fake stone kept peeling off the beaver board.

Below is another vantage point of St. Louis College of Pharmacy's new multi-use building.

Nestled within the Washington University Medical Center, the college is also planning to build a new 7-story residential hall.

The Arch grounds, St. Louis riverfront and Gateway Mall $400-million transformation continues.

Kiener Plaza in downtown St. Louis, a Gateway Mall civic plaza within view of the Gateway Arch, is getting a makeover as part of the $400-million CityArchRiver projects.

The plaza's redesign is to cost between $18 million and $22 million. It will be paid for with a mixture of private funds and proceeds from a 3/16ths of one-cent sales tax that was passed in 2013.

Construction is set to begin sometime in 2015 and take 14 months to complete.

Demo work should begin this year.

As new windows are being put on the $120-million Arcade Building, Minneapolis-based Dominium Development released more renderings of their markert-rate units.

The long-empty, 18-story structure, will be home to Webster University and apartments when it is completed.

Once reopened, the Arcade will feature 282 apartments beginning on the fourth floor and rising to the 18th.

Of those apartments, 202 will be artist lofts, with an additional 80 apartments going for market-rate.

With 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments, ranging from $563 to $3,560, Arcade Apartments offer something for everyone.

A 4,000-square-foot rooftop deck for use by the tenants of the building.

St. Louis is seeing a lot of institutional construction.

SLU is planning two new residential halls by 2017.

Here's one dorm already under construction on the south end of St. Louis University's Midtown campus.

The Saint Louis University Board of Trustees approved construction of a $43.8 million new residence hall - the first in a series of potential projects designed to enhance on-campus housing.

The eight-story, 153,000-square-foot facility will be located on existing green space at Laclede and Spring avenues behind Fusz Hall.

Designed for first-and-second year students, the new residence hall will feature single and double suite-style rooms with a total of 450 beds.

Classrooms, a conference room, study rooms, floor lounges, a chapel, a "living room" with kitchen, a large meeting space and a small outdoor amphitheater are included in the plans.

The new dormitory will be right around the corner from the new IKEA, the planned Midtown Station, CORTEX and near where hundreds of apartment units are under construction in the Central Corridor.

Continuing...............

Below is a rendering of SLU's second new dorm, which will built on the Midtown campus.

The first new residence hall, noted above in a previous post, is expected to open in August 2016, followed by a second new hall in August 2017.

Renovation of the Griesedieck Complex, shown in background, should be completed by August 2019.

Demolition is underway on the site where an $85-million mixed-use project, called 'Chouteau's Grove', will rise on the Manchester Strip near the Central Corridor and just blocks away from the new IKEA, which is under construction.

The first phase includes a grocery store and more than 250 market-rate apartments which will cost $73.8 million. The 8-story development is planned for the eastern end of The Grove neighborhood.

The project will include more than 550 parking spaces for public and private use.

A planned second phase, estimated to cost about $11.7 million, would include another 15 studio apartments with 20,000 square feet of commercial space underneath.

It is supposed to become a Marriott Hotel Blackhawk, which is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection.

Downtown development: Cellas check out of 705 Olive, boutique hotel planned

The Cella family has sold a 165,000-square-foot office building in downtown St. Louis for $3.3 million.

The property, 705 Olive St., was bought by 705 Olive LLC from Southern Real Estate and Financial, one of the largest private companies in the region with estimated annual revenue of $500 million. It is owned by the Cella family.

The 15-story, Louis Sullivan-designed office building, where Southern Real Estate has had its offices for decades, had been for sale since 2013 and has been linked to several buyers.

More new civic pride public bike racks are being installed around St. Louis - largely in commercial districts.

The mayor of St. Louis is attempting to make the city a premier cycling city.

An early summer opening is planned for the $13-million, 107-room Hilton Home2 Suites-Forest Park hotel under construction in the city's Forest Park Southeast neighborhood, which includes The Grove.

It's the first major branded hotel in the neighborhood in decades.

The hotel also sits near I-64, Washington University Medical Center and CORTEX.

Techshop will be moving into a brand new $25-million, 60,000 square foot building.

The renderings were released today.

St. Louis College of Pharmacy, one of the oldest colleges in St. Louis and the oldest college of pharmacy west of the Mississippi, has been rapidly expanding its campus.

Here is yet another mixed-use residential project proposed for the college, which is nestled within the Washington University Medical Center.

The facility will integrate the student center, dining hall, competition gym, recreation center, and residence hall into a vibrant vertical hub of activity.

Great design.

This photo gives one perspective of the number of cranes over the Central Corridor/Central West End area.

Not all cranes are captured. Shown are cranes for the new BJC hospitals (3) and CityWalk on Euclid (2).
