Thanks for the info!

There is a building permit for TIs for a pizza place across the street from the Van Buren at 222 N. 5th Ave. Anyone know anything? I hope it's good--seems like a late night pizza joint would be simpatico with people coming out of concerts.

^ If that's the case you know your neighborhood is urbanizing when slice houses for cheap pizza start popping up.

I pedaled over there tonight to check it out. There's a sign up referring to zoning case #ZA-650-18-7. I looked it up and the applicant is listed as follows:

Tanner Locus, Slice Shop -- DBA Via Della

Digging a little more, I came across this Instagram account:

A pizza spot is opening at the warehouse, currently attached to the "We Got Flowers" building. SW Corner of 5th Ave/Van Buren. Work is ongoing and they're removing the stucco on the outside to expose the brick!

Neato! The transformation of the neighborhood and 2nd St into downtown’s drinking street continues. Wonder if people will be upset that it’s a chain.

That was my first reaction. In some ways, it's a validation of the area's success. In other ways, it may increase fears of gentrification and homogenization of the neighborhood.

Ha! Maybe we can look forward to lawsuits for looking at AT the wrong way or breathing too loudly.

It's clearly a very low-res upload. Everything looks worse than it is.

I think it's suppose to be fancy pavers. I doubt the City of Phoenix will be installing those within their right of way....
