[Aylmer] British Square (71-79, rue Principale) | 5f | U/C

This place is already at the second floor at least, and that was last week when I walked by.

I thought it was going to be an addition to the hotel, didn't know it was going to be affordable housing!

I really like this project. It's a lot larger than I expected. Mods can we please change the name to 'British Square'?

I actually went with my drone but forgot the batteries, so all the Aylmer stuff from today is with my phone.

Looking good. A shame about those HVAC condensers standing out like sore thumbs everywhere though.

That's such a sweet block.

Are you thinking about 'square head' or 'tête carré'?

Coming from the west, 'square heads' were ultra religious. When I came to Quebec twenty years ago, I found it amusing that a square head was an anglophone.

(it's not a wonder no one picked up on this in the Ottawa forum).

There will likely be railings installed so they won't be as unsightly.

I agree, on a hot summer's night this place was already hopping. It is really a great spot.

In all honesty, I don't think my late teen kids are aware of the term.

And I haven't heard it myself in years.

Was that not what you were going for in your post, though?

Maybe one day! If so, I'll be sure to buy a "round"!

Good call - I hadn't thought about that. Dark tinted glass panels with black railings, please!

It would be kind of odd having the condenser unit behind glass on your balcony blowing hot air on you all summer while you sit outside. It will probably be better if they go with a metal railing rather than glass in this case. They should have gone with a central hvac system for the complex, this condenser placement is baffling.

I am surprised that the rendering and real-life look of this place look exactly the same. Great job.

I'm very impressed with the final product, with the exception of the 'Summer Heated Balconies'
