World’s Longest and Tallest Single-Arch Bridge Coming to Dubai in 2015

Quote:
The bridge will have a main span of 2,188 feet (667m) and be nearly 670 feet (204m) tall. This size will allow Dubai to “leap frog” China which currently has the largest main span at 1,811 feet (552m). The bridge is being built at a cost of $817 million. Its overall length will be 1 mile (1.6km), just short of the full length of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.

The bridge will be 200 feet wide (61m), have 12 lanes for traffic and a two-way train track running through its center. Estimated automobile traffic is 20,000 vehicles and 23,000 metro rail passengers per hour.

The following image shows the project’s central island where eventually the Dubai Opera House, a ferry terminal and an amphitheater are planned.

Project: Afnan

Quote:
Deyaar Development has announced the launch of the first phase of its Midtown master development in Dubai’s International Media Production Zone (IMPZ).

The company said that sales for the Afnan district would begin this month. It will contain seven residential buildings ranging in size from 7- to 17-storey blocks. The buildings will contain 132 studio apartments, 374 one-bed, 143 two-bed and 10 three-bed apartments. These will range in size from 40 to 189 square metres and will be marketed at middle-income families.

Deyaar said that a tendering process to appoint a main contractor had started and that construction will begin on site by the end of this year. The district is due for completion by September 2018.

Afnan is the first part of the Midtown development – a masterplanned scheme containing a built-up area of 5 million square feet on 1.2 million sq ft of land – launched at last year’s Cityscape Global event. It will be developed in several overlapping phases during the next five years.

Project: Jebel Ali Gardens

Quote:
Dubai developer Nakheel has announced the launch of Jebel Ali Gardens, a brand new community providing accommodation for more than 40,000 people in the UAE emirate.

The new master-developed project will comprise nearly 10,000 apartments in 42 buildings, set amid lush, landscaped gardens with pools and sports facilities, said a statement from Nakheel.

Apartments range from one to three bedrooms, and each building will also have ground floor retail space.

The project, which will also feature three mosques accommodating a total of 3,000 people, is set on a 5.5-million-sq-ft site with a built-up area of more than 19 million sq ft. It is designed for people who want quality, affordable accommodation and convenient community facilities, the statement added.

DAMAC Properties Launches Six-Tower Mixed Use Complex

Quote:
Emirati developer DAMAC Properties has announced a new $2 billion complex set to rise at the corner of Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Meydan Street in Dubai. Marketed as the first project to materialize on the banks of the under-construction Dubai Water Canal — a three-kilometre-long artificial river connecting Business Bay and the Dubai Creek to the Persian Gulf — Aykon City will include six mixed-use skyscrapers, offering a total area of 370,000 square metres.

Project: Jumeriah Central

Quote:
A company controlled by Dubai's ruler on Sunday unveiled plans for a vast mixed-use development that will create thousands of new homes and hotel rooms.

Developer Dubai Holding said work on the new "Jumeriah Central" district will begin next year along Sheikh Zayed Road, the city's main artery. It will sit across from the Mall of the Emirates, home to an indoor ski slope.

The project is expected to take years to complete at a cost of $20 billion. Plans call for 11,000 residential units, three shopping malls and numerous hotels, offices and entertainment attractions.

Dubai's property sector has recovered rapidly since the emirate's debt-fueled 2009 financial crisis, helped by an improving global economy and increased tourism as Dubai prepares to host the 2020 World Expo.

Nakheel Unveils Palm Jumeirah's Next Resort Complex

Quote:
Government-owned real estate developer Nakheel not only specializes in building sprawling properties across prime sites, but their extensive land reclamation projects have created completely new areas for vertical growth. They envisioned three artificial islands extending from the Dubai shoreline into the Persian Gulf. In 2006, the smallest of the three — Palm Jumeirah — was completed. It created an entirely new neighbourhood, consisting largely of luxury villas, that has become the epicentre for opulent hotels and resorts. The 1,539-room Atlantis is unquestionably the most iconic hotel on the island, and it will soon be accompanied by another sweeping resort when Nakheel's Palm 360 project is opened.
Work on World's Tallest Tower Begins in Dubai

Quote:
Though the Jeddah Tower is gradually climbing towards that feat, no structure on the planet has yet eclipsed the height of the 828-metre Burj Khalifa in Dubai. But now, in the same city no less, another challenging structure aims to do just that. The Tower at Dubai Creek is being lauded as the next phase in observation tower engineering, and recent wind tunnel tests have confirmed that building the megastructure is achievable. With the scheme laid out and the financing completed, Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding are putting the plans into motion, as a ground breaking event on Monday officially marked the beginning of site work.
Emaar Properties Planning 74-Storey Hotel for Dubai Beachfront
Quote:
The developer behind the Burj Khalifa is setting their sights on the Dubai beachfront, where they are planning a 74-storey hotel to be branded The Address Jumeirah Resort and Spa at Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR). Initial drawings show two elongated volumes punctuated by inset balconies and joined at the base and roof by multi-storey appendages.

$1.8 Billion Royal Atlantis Luxury Resort Coming to Dubai's Palm Jumeirah

Quote:
Coming soon to the famous manmade Palm Jumeirah islands of Dubai, a $1.8 billion (CAD) luxury resort and residence project known as Royal Atlantis is set to redefine the local skyline. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates for the Investment Corporation of Dubai, the 43-storey, 795-room, 231-unit hotel and residences will take up a massive 10-hectare plot of prime waterfront land. The luxury development will have no less than 65 outdoor swimming pools, including the signature Skypool, which will be perched more than 100 metres above grade.

With room to accommodate approximately 1,500 guests and residents, the Royal Atlantis hotel and residence will bring a considerable influx of activity to the Palm Jumeirah islands. The manmade landmass is as much a triumph of modern engineering as it is a symbol of the type of conspicuous wealth that has defined the development of Dubai in recent decades. Set to open in 2018, the new development will soon become a prime destination for those looking to live the high life.

Dubai the city of Skycrappers

Every time when I look at the skies It's noticeable that the skyscrapers in Dubai keep increasing. Some designs look similar, but most of them have a different style. Which is the tallest building now under construction in Dubai?
