East Coast Life I: Wash., D.C. (or The District of Conformity Tour)

East Coast Life I: DC
East Coast Life II: NYC

Greetings. Moved to Alexandria, VA last September on the "How many cities can I live in before I move back to Detroit?" tour.

Attempting to play/learn with the D7000 I picked up last November. DC is an interesting place to photograph; apologizes for some of the more touristy locales, but with so many people coming to visit me from NC and MI, the National Mall gets more love from me than you'd realize.

My job has me in schools all across DC proper... so some hopefully unique neighborhood tours will emerge over the coming months.

With that said, enjoy.

Much love,

TNTD

Yes, excellent pictures! Thanks for sharing.

Very varied shots of WAS. I love those colorful row houses.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

Thanks Everyone!

Cirrus... keep me updated if there are ever any DC forum meetups. I'd love to get back into the SSP world.

You're in luck-- there is a Greater Greater Washington/Ward 3 Vision happy hour this Thurs, June 26 at Public Tenley: http://greatergreaterwashington.org/...sons-and-more/ .

DC is a really bad and bizarre place. Everyone hates it, and with good reason.

I think maybe you're thinking of the federal government, which is not synonymous with the District of Columbia.

Follow 202_Cyclist's advice and go to the GGW happy hours (I usually attend if they're downtown, in Midcity, or in Arlington, but probably won't make the one this week). Also add the Coalition for Smarter Growth walking tour series to your calendar. We don't really do SSP forum meetups because there are so many similar organizations that are more, er, organized.

Very, very beautiful photos. When I visited DC 11 months ago, there were soooo, sooo, soooo many canes. Cool to see most of 'em still there.

Yeah, it's fucking awful... as evidenced by this photo thread. What a disgustingly bizarre pit of hell! And filled with bastards such as myself.

Really nice stuff, Tony. Thanks!

Washington's height limit works much better than Ottawa's I'd say. Washington gets to be a solid mid-rise city, while Ottawa's buildings get to be stubby highrises.

Not to sidetrack this thread and distract from these great photos, I absolutely agree with Cirrus-- attend one of the Coalition for Smarter Growth's many excellent walking tours if you get a chance. They provide a very enjoyable and in-depth look at the many diverse neighborhoods in the Washington region. I am going to put together a photo thread one of these days of the Shaw walking tour from back in April.

First off, congrats on the job & move. I know you're a ramblin' man.

Beautiful pics. Looks like that new camera is working quite well under your control.

Glad to see you back in the groove TNTD.
