The City Council approved a height increase for West Campus projects in November 2019. The most significant change is that most of the area on the map zoned for 175' buildings (roof height) is now zoned for 300' buildings (roof height). Mechanical screens can add ~20' to those heights.

This is the original map of allowable building heights in West Campus.

This is a map showing the 11/2019 changes.

***Updated May 29***

Here’s 2020 Rev. 6 of my list of Austin’s tallest projects that are at least 150’ tall.

This list only includes projects with a publicly available source for the height or floor count. There are 78 proposed and U/C projects that are at least 150' tall. There are at least 47 projects over 300' including four projects that are not listed because the heights are not yet publicly available. There are at least 22 projects over 500' including three not listed. Based on footprint, uses and square footage, three of the proposed towers not listed (ATX East Tower, ATX West Tower and Block 190 Tower) will end up being over 700' with one possible supertall (ATX East Tower). That makes eight projects that are at least 700'.

There are four status types:

U/C – Cement has been poured
Site Demo – At least one structure on the site has been or is being demolished
Site Prep – Dirt is moving or utility work is underway
Proposed – A project has been announced and/or project documents/permits have been filed with the city

Projects highlighted in green have broken ground and have financing. They may have a status such as "Site Prep" or "Site Demo" as well as “U/C”.

Projects highlighted in yellow were completed in 2020. Completed projects will stay on the list during 2020, but will be removed from the project count.

This is a list of 14 projects underway that are over 300'. Five of them are over 500'.

This is a list of the 37 completed or topped out buildings in Austin that are at least 300'. Twelve of the 14 projects listed as underway are not on this list yet because they have not topped out. The Marriott and Parsley Energy towers are the only U/C projects that are topped out.
