Nice photos from Sumidagawa festival! Another one I found on Flickr:

Seems fireworks come nowhere near to matching TST's height!

Imagine how the landscape has changed from the first festival in 1732

This building is deceptively tall and it hies it 2070ft height well. I love some of the aerial camera shots!

It's hard to get a feel for how tall the Sky Tree really is based on pictures since there's isn't a lot of comparable structures around it. When I visited Tokyo a couple years ago I went up in Tokyo Tower though, and thinking that this is twice as tall really puts it in perspective for me. Very awesome. I'll definitely be checking this out if I ever make it back.

A flag pole is more accurate.

I didn't know either even with the name so I looked it up. It's from Lord of the Rings.

Nice addition for Tokyo, but I'm not a fan of the upside down antenna.

The fact that it tops out just under the cloud base is pretty surreal.

What's the off kilter ring on the upper observation deck? I like it, it's nifty.

Except that diagram is wrong. The tower of Sauron is supposed to be over 5000 feet tall, that would make it almost twice the height of the Burj Khalifa.
