and if you also consider that the adjoining neighborhood to its south, Dogpatch, is the fastest-evolving in the City, plus Crane Cove Park, Pier 70, and Mission Rock, and all the other 'ripple' developments that have gone/are going up in other surrounding blocks of Potrero Hill, Showplace Square and SoMa, to me it's astonishing how much impact you've got in a pretty concentrated area.

There are a couple of old* people in that render. I thought that wasn't allowed. Someone notify the render police!

*i.e., probably my age

here's the visual...

demo has started in prep for the UCSF Child, Teen and Family Center and Department of Psychiatry Building, in Dogpatch

Three Corners

Uber

construction around the arena in the distance, as seen from the south, looking down Third. Psychiatry Building and 2177 3rd Street sites on left and right, respectively, in foreground

closer up

looking back south

some sidewalk adjustments happening... wider on Terry Francois, yay!

Mariposa St adding a traffic lane east of Third (to align with the added lane west of Third), booo! but the sidewalk may still end up being ample anyway.

it's kind of a jumble here, but the corner of Mariposa and Illinois looks like it will be NE of where it was, so a wider Mariposa and a narrower Illinois (on the left in the pic)

looking west from the end of 16th St; arena on the right

NextDoor provides some news:

Quote:
Street opening

Just received this:
"Both Owens Street between Mariposa and 16th Street and Mission Rock Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard will be open by mid-day this Saturday."
the first one is the stretch that goes by the Exchange (future Dropbox).

the two newly-opened stretches of street were both pretty quiet today. Mission Rock:

and Owens, looking south:

and north

and how it interacts with the freeway off-ramp

Rutter views. a new section south of Nelson Rising Way has been turned into a parking lot, and NR Way appears to be now fully open to both cars and walkers

new UCSF housing in Dogpatch visible from the Indiana side

crazy canes

the other UCSF project in Dogpatch, the psychiatric facility as seen from Third

the wall of new construction on the east side of Third

three corners

the first bridge linking the two parts of Uber is coming into existence

from this angle it hasn't changed much

UCSF's block 23

Three Corners

sort of hard to see, but looked like glass had gone in at street level on the southern office building on the arena site

the construction wall on Third

UCSF psychiatry center in Dogpatch, demo ongoing

Minnesota St side of UCSF housing, also Dogpatch

the Exchange, from the west

a closer look at its 'back', facing the freeway and train tracks

block 6E, Fourth St side

west side

looks like a mid-block passage/mews on that west side

Why aren’t they building high rises buildings in the Mission Bay district? Is it cause developers aren’t allowed to?

Here are the detailed zoning design documents. In short, they are, but only in restricted areas.
