prior to commencement of impact pile driving. Prior to issuance of building
permit, the project applicant shall submit to the City for approval the
anticipated depth to which piles will be drilled and the estimated start date

The mayor mentioned during the city council meeting last week, that 500 CM would be drilling the piles instead of driving them in. She joked that nearby workers will probably appreciate the break from all the recent pile driving on CM..

from what innov8 posted fm the EIR, it sounds as if they will drill pilot holes to a predetrmined depth and then place the pile in that hole and then drive it home.

I'm sure the surrounding buildings will appreciate it.

That would be one sweet view. Hopefully you don't have to move anymore.

Just what were you doing on your desk the other day????

I think my real problem might be that if I see it every day, it will look like
not much is getting done... but I'm sure all the noise will remind
me other wise. (smiley represent construction noise )

something tells me Mike would "work" for free if they asked him as long as he got to keep his office. He could always work nights in order to actually earn a living...

Talk about putting the fox in the hen house, or the kid in the candy store unattended... We should be getting a play by play of 500 CM throughout construction.

Hi everybody,

I'm new to this site, but I work in 400 CM and I've been following the construction on Capitol Mall pretty closely. Here are some low-res pictures. I'll try and get some better pictures soon.

500 CM

Welcome to the boards apt and thanks for the photos. It looks like you have a birds eye view from the Wells Fargo Center....

It looks like they've begun drilling for the piles. Is that the case?

No drilling yet. The drill has been up for ~1week, but they're still mucking out the leftover concrete and extra dirt inside the retaining wall.

I wish I'd known about this site when they demo'd the old building. That was really cool. I brought my kids to watch that.

what activity's been happening at this site? with all the people working in the buildings above it i was hoping we'd have a photo-documentary of every step of construction.

holy crap I had no idea this project already got off the ground! The last time I heard about what was then the greekish roman tower, I thought the project was dead due to lack of news in a long time. Great to see action occuring there.

btw I don't really like the idea of trees blocking out the entrance as seen in that rendering.

Not much has changed. Just about all the dirt and rubble are out now, and they're working to dewater the northern half of the excavated area. I'll bring a better camera and post some new shots soon.
