Construction permit has been issued for 155 MAIN STREET, DARTMOUTH. The permit is for a 8-storey mixed-use building with 105 residential units. This is the former home of Pleasure 'N Treasures on the north side at Hartlan Street.

I have no further information or even know who is the developer.

Thanks for the update! If you don't mind me asking, where/how do you keep up with construction permits for upcoming projects?

Halifax posts them in a HRM Open Data Set. Organize by newest and quickly scanning through the "Total_End_Residential_Units", "Number_Storeys", or "Estimated_Project_Value" fields will pick up most of the large projects discussed on this forum.

Simple but effective development proposed for Main Ave, between Titus/Joe Howe. Looks like it'll replace 2-3 houses and provide much more housing. On a busy transit line too.

There will be 60 underground parking along with 66 at-grade spaces located behind the building.

This is actually quite the surprising proposal. Cole Harbour is pretty much the definition of suburban sprawl with low density housing spread out everywhere and the community centre is a strip of commercial along an arterial road (collector highway in this case). This building will be oriented along the street with individual entrances, the parking lot will be hidden in the rear lot, and there is little setback from the public sidewalk.
1200-126 Cole Harbour Road is moving forward with first reading next week;

The applicant wishes to construct a multi-unit dwelling at the site. The major aspects of the proposal are as follows:

Six (6) storey multi-unit residential building;
93 residential units (mix of bachelor, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom units)
3,590 square feet of ground floor commercial space; and
Approx. 9 commercial parking spaces and 65 residential parking spaces

From what I can see the applicant is FH Development Group.
541 PLEASANT STREET has been downsized. It is now 5-storey, 71 units, 4'540 sq ft commercial.

Proposed senior's living community in Uplands Park, Hammonds Plains; Case 23720 Development Agreement. It's for 24-townhouses and a 3-storey, 29-unit apartment building accessed off of Crestfield Drive.

There is a note saying a Frenchy's is proposed for nearby Majesty Court.

[Dartmouth] 3-5 BRUCE STREET | 16 M | 5 FL | PROPOSED

NEW PROPOSAL!

BM Group Holdings Ltd is seeking a development agreement for 3-5 BRUCE STREET, DARTMOUTH. They are looking to demolish the two existing buildings and build a new 5-sorey, 52-unit residential building with ground floor commercial and underground parking. The current commercial tenant is John's Office Furniture. The project has street frontage on both Bruce and Woodlawn. A new sidewalk is included along the frontage on Bruce.

Bruce Street is a short residential street connecting Woodlawn Road and Portland Street. This is across from Woodlawn Plaza.

Case 23937 Details

The building design is basic but this project is an improvement for the area by introducing a mixed-use building with commercial at-grade and apartments above. The site will be close to the proposed Red-Line BRT Woodlawn stop. Smaller scale infill projects like this could led to a more dense, walkable, and vibrant community along the BRT route.

We need Suburban Plan ASAP. It'll be a real shame if the redevelopment trend hits Woodlawn/Portland in full before there is a chance to redo the planning to allow real density along what should be a major transit corridor.

Please no. Design regulation in the Downtown Halifax Plan Area has been, in my opinion, an abject failure. It adds time and complication for little benefit. That also seems to be the experience in other cities with design regulation.

What we need is to accept that not every building is going to be a gem, and that the best cities tend to be ones where the public realm is the focus of beautification efforts.

One of the newer '60s-era rubber-tire tourism motels built on the Bedford Highway. I always found it odd that it was constructed in a pit. I guess there are no heritage activists fighting to save this endangered species.
