No way Austin will be at San Francisco's level in 6 years from now. San Francisco is still too dense and still doubles in terms of height. Assuming that all proposed buildings get built, San Francisco will still have at least 35 towers standing between 500-1000ft. Austin will have 23. This includes two supertalls and one 900' for SF, and only one supertall for Austin.

SF has a decievingly tall skyline but its sort of hard to view it from a near distance because of the bay. You either see it from across the bay or across the golden gate bridge with are both pretty far away. The hills also really hide just how tall and dense it is.

Sort of the opposite of Seattle who has a rockin skyline but the hills make it appear even larger than it is.

SF only has 24 buildings 500+ feet or taller:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._San_Francisco
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...st_skyscrapers

It will probably add more over the next six years, sure, but not even close to as many as Austin. Few other cities can match Austin's current pace.

Austin may not have quite as many as SF by then, but at the current pace, it will easily have more than 20 at 500 ft or taller. Using that metric, Austin will definitely be approaching the size of SF in six years. I know it's hard to believe and sounds crazy, but it's true. (All of this presupposes no consequential slowdown of course.)

Again, I know that some of those won't be built, but other projects will be announced also. The number of potential unannounced projects alone is astounding. Potential future projects could be announced on west 6th, on the post office block, on the lot next to the Austonian, at the Railyard Condo lots, at Avenue Lofts, at Brazos Lofts, at Trinity Hall, at VY Steakhouse, at Brackenridge and the northeast quadrant projects, etc. -- the pipeline is never ending. Now add to that list the lots/blocks I'm surely missing and whatever other lots become available/targeted for redevelopment downtown, west of the Capitol, and in West Campus. You're underestimating what is coming down the pike.

Edit: Sorry, I should have realized that my previous comment would have been overly scrutinized and lead to taking this thread off the topic rails.

I'm speaking specifically about all of the proposed and approved buildings for both cities. San Francisco's adds up to around 35 of buildings over 500'. It's gonna take more than 6 years.

Austin isn't going to keep the current pace forever. We may be able to catch Dallas somewhat soon but I don't see SF happening. SF's setting on the water with the nearby hills is also untouchable!

Do we know if PNC (formerly BBVA) is still moving forward as a tenant?

I haven't seen any info about that. But BBVA sold the site to Ryan before they were rebranded as PNC. So I don't see any PNC connection.

I don't know if you're relatively new to Austin, but, locals have called Loop 1 "Mopac" since it was first constructed.

Regardless...has the height of this tower been proven to be 675'? Seems like some individuals tied to either developing and/or approving this project have indicated it had not changed from it's original height (or something like that). The comments were posted a few pages back...

I suppose whether I'm new to Austin is, like most things, relative. I arrived 42 years ago.

I call the highway by both names, but usually Loop 1.

I also say 183, Loop 360, 290, and not Research (or Ed Bluestein), Capital of Texas, or Ben White.

183 north of Burnet Road was once known as suicide alley.
Just keeping this waaay off topic alive and irrelevant.

For the sake of accuracy, I think the title of this project should include “6th St”.

“321 West” is a completely different location.

Then maybe: 321 West (6th Street) | 675 Feet | 55 Floors | Approved?

Here's one of the most poorly researched articles about a project that I have ever read. So many things wrong.

I can tell you with certainty, the title block on the current building plans is "321 W. 6th Street"

The project title in the thread was the address 321 W. 6th St. until the project name became "321 West" according to an ABJ article quoting a Ryan VP during the announcement of Tishman-Speyer becoming a co-developer in August. The article link with a quote was in this post:
