Dallas Symphony selling Arts District corner for new tower project

The property – which is next door to the Meyerson Symphony Center – for the last 20 years has been used for green space and sculpture.

Lincoln Property plans to build a 23-story office tower on the site, which is across from Klyde Warren Park and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Lincoln Property is already talking with potential businesses that are interested in renting space in the tower, which will have about 250,000 square feet of office space built on top of a parking garage and ground floor retail.

Construction will start on the project in September, said Lincoln Property president Bill Duvall.

I really like Dallas, but it stinks that it's building all of these lame 25 story boxes. The only decent one is McKinney and Olive, and even that's nothing special.

Being that close to Klyde-Warren, I was hoping for something higher than this. Dallas has tons of beautiful buildings, but not nearly enough tall to supertalls. Would love to see this revised at 45+ floors.

Towering red sculpture next to Meyerson will be dismantled next week to make room for offices

In June we learned that the Dallas Symphony Foundation is selling the corner of Woodall Rodgers Freeway and Pearl Street to developer Lincoln Property, which plans to plant a 23-story office tower in the site that serves as an entrance to the Dallas Arts District.

Debi Pena, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s vice president of people and facilities, has sent a note to “friends and families of the DSO” that says the “de-installation” of the 60-foot-tall red sculpture will begin Tuesday and “last approximately one day.” As a result, she warns, Munger Street next to the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center will be closed during its removal.

Lincoln Property is starting work on new Dallas Arts District tower

Less than six months after buying the high-profile corner of Woodall Rodgers Freeway and Pearl Street in the Dallas Arts District, the developer is breaking ground on a 25-story office high-rise.

The 260,000-square-fooot metal and glass tower will go up right next door to the Dallas Symphony Center.

The building will open in about 18 months.

President Obama and George W. Bush both gave a speech at the Dallas Police Memorial Service.

The ceremony took place at the I.M. Pei-designed Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, thus the Dallas, Grand Prairie and Arlington police.

The construction site was barricaded.
