Qatar Executes $45M Takeover of 50 United Nations Plaza

In a move that may be strategic (or not), Qatar has purchased four apartments at the Zeckendorf-developed 50 United Nations Plaza (h/t TRD). What makes the buy of the $8.125 million 19B, $10.2 million 33B, $8.5 million 27B, and $19.5 million Penthouse 35 so confounding is that they absolutely cannot be combined; that is unless the country plans on shelling out for all of the building's B-line apartments spanning floors 19 through 35. Either way, it looks like the country just plans on dominating the slow-to-sell Midtown East tower in earnest.

The Queen buys $8M pad at Zeckendorf’s 50 UN Plaza

It’s no Buckingham Palace, but it’s rather special anyway. Even the British royal family is getting into the business of pieds-a-terre in New York. Queen Elizabeth II is now the proud owner of an apartment at Zeckendorf Development’s 50 United Nations Plaza. The royal family spent $7.9 million on the three-bedroom pad.
