Hi Julie. Not sure which pre-construction condo you are referencing (there are hundreds in the pipeline) as my last post featured under construction projects.

I'm sure there are other forum members better-equipped to comment on the pros and cons of buying pre-construction, but I would suggest that the time-line for many new projects to move through the city approval process to sales to construction (usually triggered by about 70% of firm sales) to occupancy and registration, has increased quite dramatically due to the 'avalanche' of new proposals (no doubt overwhelming city planners, construction suppliers etc.). While many predicted that the pandemic would stall pre-construction sales of residential units, the reverse seems to be true for 2020 and some are predicting an increase in pre-construction sales of 15% or more for 2021.

I guess it's not rocket science to suggest if you are looking for a 'move-in' condo for your parents in the next few years... you might check out some projects that are well-under construction already?

Proposals like Forest Hills Condominiums hammer home how much work needs to be done to bring the city up to where it needs to be. We're literally re-building half the city and will need 1000s of new buildings and another 3-4 million residents to get there. Even with the current pace of construction it will be 2040-2050 before it all starts coming together.

There was a note on Urban Toronto that accomplished and tireless photographer Jasonzed has passed away. In recent years his work with shots from a drone have been particularly notable. Several of his photos appear on this page. He will be missed. May his family and friends find comfort.

Enjoy the ride the 2020's will be for Toronto, by the end of it Toronto will be is spitting distance with New York for Most skyscrapers outside of Asia

So very sad to hear of Jasonzed passing. To say he was a prolific contributor here is a gross understatement. I enjoyed his work from afar here on the west coast and my condolences go out to his real family and his SSP/SSC/UrbanToronto ones.
