It's behind a paywall.
But, WBJ is reporting that Donohoe is now under construction with Upton Place, a 689 unit apartment building on Wisconsin Ave near Tenleytown.

April 27, 2021
By Nena Perry-Brown

"After sharing its plans with the public last month, a Property Group Partners (PGP)-led development team has filed a second-stage planned unit development (PUD) application for the next phase of Capitol Crossing.

The proposal would deliver 166 apartments, 221 hotel rooms and 20,567 square feet of retail to the center block above the Center Leg Freeway, off F Street between 2nd and 3rd Street NW. The residential and hotel uses would each be in 12 stories atop a shared two-story retail-and-amenity podium, which qualifies the project as one building under zoning."

"Three years after JBG SMITH purchased a NoMa McDonald's, plans are emerging for redevelopment of the site.

Capitol Point North, a two-phase development is on the boards for 55 and 75 New York Avenue NE. The first phase would deliver 500 apartments above 13,130 square feet of ground-floor retail and a 5,250 square-foot rooftop bar/restaurant; the second phase would deliver 305 apartments above 9,125 square feet of retail, a 4,000 square-foot fast food restaurant (presumably the existing McDonald's), and pet boarding..."

DCDevelopmentAddict-- thank you for posting these photos. We live in the Capitol Riverfront/Navy Yard neighborhood but have been staying with my in-laws in New York during the coronavirus pandemic. I enjoy seeing these updates.

Hotel/Airbnb Disrupter Sonder Expands Operation off Lower Barracks Row

Capitol Hill Corner

"Murillo/Malnati Development Group is changing the use of what was to be a 49 unit apartment building overlooking Virginia Avenue Park at 818 Potomac Avenue, SE, to what will functionally be self-service hotel. In its new incarnation, the building will be managed by the billion dollar disruptive hospitality startup Sonder, and the 49 units will join 32 short term rental units in an adjacent building at 816 Potomac Avenue also owned by Murillo/Malnati and already being operated by Sonder.

The change comes as a matter of right, but the developer has to come back to the city via ANC6B because they need a special exception for not having required loading. Although scheduled for next week’s meeting, 6B’s consideration was postponed until June, when the Zoning Adjustment Application will come before the BZA..."

202_Cyclist- Hey, no problem. Nats Park and Navy Yard is my favorite place to hang out, so I'll post more updates in the future. I have enjoyed this thread since JD Land has seemed to slow down.

"While UrbanTurf strives to be thorough in our residential rundowns, sometimes a development slips through the cracks. One of those is a soon-to-deliver condominium project in Shepherd Park.

The five-story Seven700 development will deliver 32 condos a block from the Target at 7700 Georgia Avenue NW (map). The development is currently under construction and could deliver in early July..."

"The U Street residential pipeline is growing on one of its more dormant corners.

30 Condos on the Boards for One of DC’s More Active Development Corridors

May 19, 2021
By Nena Perry-Brown
Urban Turf

"The Kennedy Street corridor is a section of DC that has seen a lot of development action in the past few years, and a new condo project looks to add more residences to the strip.

Teabow Residential and USP are planning a 30-unit condominium development with roughly 4,800 square feet of commercial space at 710-714 Kennedy Street NW. The unit mix would include one- and two-bedrooms, and four of the units would be Inclusionary Zoning for households earning up to 80% of area median income..."

Thousands of Units, a Grocery Store, a Hotel, and a Home Depot: The Proposals for Reservation 13

May 21, 2021
By Nena Perry-Brown
Urban Turf

"The public is now getting a look at the proposed developments being pitched to reshape nearly half a million square feet of land on the former DC General site.

On Thursday night, the development teams looking to redevelop the remainder of the District-owned site known as Reservation 13 presented their proposals. The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) released a request for proposals (RFP) last fall for eight parcels at the former DC General Hospital/homeless shelter, divided across two bundles southeast of 19th Street and Massachusetts Avenue SE."

"Two months after the public got a glimpse of what could be the future for a prominent U Street intersection, developers Eastbanc and Jameson have made a few tweaks.

The plans for 1250 U Street NW originally called for 106 apartments and 51 hotel rooms above retail, along with 36 stacked duplexes ("Temperance Mews") in the alley behind the U Street address..."

Would be nice to see a few shorter 10-12 floor towers at the corners of these 5 over 1 blocks.

This is great news. Both the Maryland and DC sides of Friendship Heights have a number of large parcels that are either vacant or significantly underutilized. This is a part of DC that needs more housing.

DC’s Mazza Gallerie Mall To Be Redeveloped Into a Residential and Retail Development

By UrbanTurf Staff

"The fate of one of DC's last malls has been determined.

Developer Tishman Speyer announced Tuesday the acquisition of DC's Mazza Gallerie mall on Wisconsin Avenue along the DC-Maryland border where it plans to build rental housing while retaining existing retail space and the underground parking garage. Willard Retail is advising on the retail component of the redevelopment.

"This project, on a gateway site into the nation’s capital represents an opportunity to help meet the strong local need for high quality housing, while retaining a retail element that embraces the neighborhood," Tishman Speyer Regional Director Jeff Chod said in a statement..."

"Another site near Union Station is in line to look a little different.

An application has been filed with DC's Zoning Commission to remodel the office buildings at 899 and 999 North Capitol Street NE (map) and infill a new building with hotel above retail on the existing sunken plaza. It is good that Friendship Heights is getting more housing, as this area hasn't seen much new housing in recent years and this site is very close to the metro station. This shows how detrimental, however, the Height Act is for Washington. Despite having some large lots, the new development goes to the Maryland side of Friendship Heights, which is not inhibited by the restrictions of the Height Act. It shows how arbitrary the Height Act is, as this is almost directly across the street from DC and will have no impact on the views of the Washington Monument and the Capitol.

"The plans for a new residential development on what was once known as the "Rodeo Drive" of Friendship Heights are starting to take shape.

A few months after announcing their acquisition of 5500 and 5520 Wisconsin Avenue, Carr Companies and The Donohoe Companies are sharing their plans for a mixed-use redevelopment at the addresses. On Wednesday night, plans for a building delivering up to 380 rental apartments above up to 15,000 square feet of retail was shared with the public. The new development will replace the 44,700 square-foot retail structure that was previously home to Brooks Brothers and Saks Jandel; a Courtyard by Marriott hotel will remain on the site..."
