New public spaces that are surprising you

What is a newly created public space (under 5 years old) that is surprising you?

What is a surprise?

"Surprise" means it's not what you expected.

For example:

It sucks big time.
It's way better than you thought
Or, it's just drawing a different crowd or vibe than you had anticipated

For me, it's Chicago's rather new but still evolving riverwalk.

I knew it would be popular, but I guess I didn't expect it to be this popular, and so full of.....drunkenness and eye candy. Lots of boats, lots of crowds, and lots of partiers. Sort of makes me jealous that this didn't exist when I was 25. Anyhow, it's likely not turning out as classy as the city had planned, but making lots of money for sure..

I'd love to see it in warm weather. When I walked it, it was at night, in March. The river was like a slushy from 7/11 and we were the only people out there that were either brave or dumb enough to take a stroll at 9-10pm on a weeknight.

For example, a boat just passed me by that screams "douchebag party Central" with lame ass techno music and inebriated dancers

Tiny lounge is great. Love the river walk. It does get insane and I've never been on a holiday weekend.

I would say Gantry Plaza State Park and Hunters Point South Park in Long Island City (the two blend seamlessly into each other). They have become the front door to the river for Queens, with spectacular city views and amenities such as snack shacks, hammocks, sand volleyball courts, and two ferry stops.
