This could be the day that Montreal passes the Leafs in the standings. Thank God I've been on the other side of the world and havent had to watch this shitshow.

I hate the oilers goal horn. And the ducks. Chiarelli fired.

Oilers fire Chiarelli this morning, no surprise there. JR ripped the team pretty good too, definitely worth a watch. https://streamable.com/iuxrw

That he did, loved the IQ comment.

Ok Oilers, time to step back from all of this, sort it out and get going.

Annoying, far too loud and trying too hard.

^ Agree - it's awful. Maybe the players don't score because they're embarrassed by it.

I thought years ago that it's the first change they should make, but thought it was just me.

Not sure how they sort it out though, the team and organization as a whole is a total dumpster fire right now. I'm just waiting for one of the good ole boys to be named GM now lol.

That's the thing, the new GM is handicapped from the get go.

The Oilers fortunes went sideways the moment they donned those hideous orange jerseys. Leagues ugliest home strip. Go back to blue, something classy like the Jets have.

I've never liked it, and was hoping they would get rid of it when the new arena was built.

I actually don't mind the Oilers home Jerseys, and every one they wear can never be worse than the stupid gear jersey lol.

Oilers'll suck as long as Daryl Katz owns the team and his lackeys' focus is on selling overpriced real estate, not running a hockey team.

Anecdotally, I've heard from someone who's met with both the Flames and Oilers senior officials numerous times in the last while that there is quite a stark contrast between the two teams. Flames management was agreeable, enthusiastic and community minded. Oilers management was petulant, arrogant and dismissive. Given how the two teams are playing I wonder if that is not translating into their respective teams on ice performance.

Sounds about right, Lowe and his "I think I know a thing or two about winning" commentary a few years ago pretty much sums it up. It amazes me that he's still involved with that team.

I've heard similar about the arrogance of the Oilers organization in dealing with the local community.

Perhaps the difference is Oilers' management got what they wanted while Flames' management is still sucking up in order to get what they want.

I heard on Vancouver sports radio this morning that there exists the "red wine club" where a bunch of 80s Oilers big names meet with Katz and give him their two cents about what the team should do. Anyone else heard of this?
And any guesses who replaces interim GM Keith Gretzky?

Wouldn't this "red wine club" just be Oilers management? how many former Oilers are involved with the running off the team now anyway?

Ol’ Wayne has been hob nobbing with these guys, but the last time he made a public appearance he seemed to be on the tailing end of a three day drinking binge, so maybe there’s come credence to that report

Nicholson is saying they are not rebuilding but I can’t see it his current incarnation of the Oilers Ever being good. They’ve got to wait out these contracts, for the love of god, draft smart. Forget the play offs. Go for lottery picks. It’s back to square one.
