From a video of the Line mural - I don't think I ever saw this view of this building:

I was watching KVUE weather this morning. Looks like they've put signage on the building (maybe mentioned in another thread, but if so, I missed it.) Not the greatest screenshot, but here's what I saw. It's to the left of Frost Tower.

Then here's another screenshot from KVUE Midday News:

. . . and a zoomed in version

In other news, I went to the website and attempted to make dummy reservations to get an idea when it will actually open. As of now, the first night you can book a reservation is Sunday, September 20.

They also have signage facing east. I'll have to go get a picture of it today.

Edit: picture below. Looks like there are some holes along the top still (although it's tough to tell in the picture). Perhaps they're planning on putting the full "Marriott" name along the crown like they did on the north-facing side?

This one is probably fairly close to finished. The lobby floor seems to be mostly done, with restaurant signage up, and landscaping mostly done.

There's also a few signs about 20' up with "Marriott," for traffic driving by.

Either way, I really like this project. Not that it looks incredible or anything, but it's on a small footprint, it doesn't have a small footprint, and it's really built just like a Marriott I'd expect to come across in Chicago or NYC. It definitely has a "big city" feel to it, rather than just being a very large hotel.

If you were to book that date, I'd be prepared to wait for the actual opening to be about a month later. In all likelihood.

I can't believe this thing is almost done and we aren't any closer to expanding the convention center.

I've been really worried about the expansion. Since HOT taxes have hit a wall, and will take several years to recover . . . I'm not sure what the financial picture looks like at this point for any sort of expansion -- even if the city decided to work with one of the less expensive options from the UT study.

I'm not situated at this point to hear any gossip about it, so am left extrapolating from their lack of action

You were right. The Grand Opening is now 10/25.

I believe they faced some restrictions on branding displayed directly toward the existing Four Seasons hotel, positioned on the opposite side of E. Cesar Chavez.

Strange... I'm imagining a Texaco and a Shell gas station across from eachother but one not able to have signage facing the other. I didn't know not allowing a brand name to display in view of a competing brand was legally possible.

Four Seasons' residential tower, sir. Has nothing to do with the hotel.

Residents do not want a glowing Marriott sign glaring through their windows at night.

Reminds me of the Kenny Rogers' Roasters Seinfeld episode.

In all fairness odelayjb did use the word hotel...

Yes having a bright sign facing the residential tower would be an issue.

Don't the residents of the Four Seasons Residences get carncierge from the hotel, though? I believe I remember reading about that.

Yes. That is a perk for which residents have paid. Most higher-end residential towers have some sort of service offering like this. In this case, one of the selling points is that this is a Four Seasons residential tower - so residents have access to service provided by one of the most recognizable luxury hotel brands on earth.

Additionally, most cities have rules and regulations regarding signage and lighting (and noise) pertaining to buildings in its central core and other areas.
