There is so much potential for vertical infill on the East side of Downtown. I really hope we see tall 40 plus story infill development on this side of the CBD. At least within the next 5 or 10 years.

Thanks for posting! It's interesting that 1900 Pearl has gotten as far as it has still without any glass.

Perhaps they're taking extra precaution in selecting window tinting, if you catch my drift.

Another potential relocation to Downtown:

Goldman Sachs shops downtown Dallas for move that could bring hundreds of workers
Steve Brown
October 25, 2016

Quote:
Goldman Sachs & Co. is in talks with building owners to relocate hundreds of workers from an office in Irving to downtown, real estate brokers who are tracking the deal say.

The New York-based investment giant is planning to rent more than 100,000 square feet of prime downtown office space in what could be one of the largest recent deals in the area.

Goldman Sachs has zeroed in on the 50-story Trammell Crow Center on Ross Avenue as a location for the office.
Quote:
The landmark downtown skyscraper is about to undergo a major renovation that includes adding retail space and construction of additional parking across the street.
Quote:
If the relocation happens it would also be one of the biggest such moves to downtown with the potential for more than 500 new jobs.

"That size lease would make an enormous difference downtown in perception and reality, particularly based on who the tenant is," said John Crawford with the economic development group Downtown Dallas Inc.

^^^ It's going to be interesting to see what effects the recent relocations, At&t's merger, the completion of renovations such as The Drever and Statler, as well as new construction will have on downtown in the future!

No. From the article, "Goldman Sachs has zeroed in on the 50-story Trammell Crow Center on Ross Avenue as a location for the office."

Looks as if they replaced the old forum. Either way looks great!

Speaking of Trammell Crow Center, they finally got the crown lit up again last night after nearly 2 months of darkness. I guess the newer lights at the base, below the pyramid, malfunctioned since they went dark not long after being added.

Trammell Crow buys block on Ross Avenue just east of downtown Dallas
Quote:
Another big block on downtown Dallas' near east side has been snapped up by developers.

Trammell Crow Residential has purchased most of the block on Ross between Caddo Street and Haskell Avenue. The property — now a combination of vacant lots and old commercial buildings.

"We are planning to build 292 apartment units on the site," said Matt Enzler, managing director of Crow Residential. "We will start abatement and demolition in November, with full construction starting after the first of the year.

Very nice! I assume this is on the south side of Ross, where that strip shopping center is (with Subway, the Chinese restaurant, etc) and not across the street with the cute, old retail buildings. They're nothing special, but with so many of those older structures getting knocked down it'd be a shame to lose them.

Judging by the pictures in the article, it looks to be the site with the cute old retail buildings. :-(

I have word the Oriental Rug Cleaning Co. building was not part of the transaction, thus sparing it from demolition.

Here's the building.
