101 King Street East | ? | 7 fl | Approved

I thought I remembered there being a thread for this but I can't find it.

This is a single narrow storefront that is proposed to have a large additon built on top.

Minor Variance application with the applicable plans here:

THAT'S IT!!

That's the building that went mysteriously under hoardings a year ago! I wondered what they were doing under there! I really like this design. The floating tinted glass square is certainly unique, and who doesn't like a really skinny building?

That block is on the ups will all the nice work done (albeit without a historical theatre) and when the gore park lofts are completed that will really round out from John to Catherine.

This is the old t-shirt joint, right? Between the Capitol and Mills Hardware?

Yup that's the one

An interesting addition for sure.

I am always blown away by how DEEP these buildings are. And how many floors of them have been basically abandoned over the years..

Loving the sash windows, we need more of those in this city. Well not sure if they're actual sash or just one pane but I like the segmented glass style.

Yep, that's the place. I do wonder what it looked like underneath, all the vintage photos I've found have a big billboard over the entire upper floors

it probably looked standard to a lot of them with the standard window openings and maybe some pediments and sills

I lof of the designs got that sorta "upgrade" when they transitioned from wood to stone and brick after the hamilton fires in the 1800s..

Wonder if we'll ever see a cornice ever again on the top of the capitol - that bare concrete top feels so empty..

the chain bolt connections that held up the marquee still exist on the floors in the top floors in the capitol - it's cool to see - they are SUPER heavy duty.

Ya love to see it. it's the perfect sort of height for that side of the park, too.

These smaller conversions/infill have been fantastic.

I hope whatever Blanchard has long been brewing lives up to what we've seen so far on King William and the north side of King.
