I'm hoping for building at the front, parking at the back (reverse mullet?) that is crossable so that the bike pathway can feel a bit more connected.

last chance to fight this being used for parking or a garage.

it got approved by the property and development committee and EPC, and will be considered by council tomorrow. email your city counsellors?

there was one good letter opposed (basically someone saying "there's lots of good street facing development happening in this neighbourhood, don't fuck it up"), but it seems it's been ignored so far...

That was my letter they published. buzzg told us to email our councillors and I listened.

The most surprising part was that I got a response within like two minutes asking if I wanted my letter shown to the committee. I wasn't really expecting to get more than the automated response saying my email was received.

I'm loving the look of the new building going up beside Parkette Grocery on River. It's pretty imposing (in a good way) it's using a really nice looking blue siding and black trim that fits in with the houses in the area, but doesn't try and make the building look like a house. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it finishes.

Sorry no pics, can't get there with daylight during the week but will go on the weekend unless someone else can before then haha.
I love it.

Like a little brother to the one on Sherbrook.

It’s amazing they convinced the client to do that huge cantilever. I feel like with it being so low, it’s visual impact is reduced and not having columns would have been a tough sell. Nice to see something different.

The design is good but even though blue is my favourite colour, I'm not sure how I feel about its use there... I might have gone with something a little more neutral, myself.

Is there something going up (or something planned for) just down the street as well? At 320 River.

Cause with this, the large one across the street replacing that cluster and the eventual bridge and park redesign, this area is going to feel a lot more urban and dense.

Looks like a 3 storey, 12 unit building with covered parking on the main floor. Variance application was submitted to the city a couple years ago but I can't seem to link to it from my phone.

Oh wow! Didn't know they tear down the house on that lot. I used to live in one of the units there. I never imagined they could fit something like this on that site. Glad to see more density. However, I'm not too sure about the blue either.

I wonder if the new owners tried to buy the lot of that corner store.

I love the blue, it's fairly dark and not unlike lots of OV/Crescentwood house paint jobs. Everyone keeps complaining about all the black and grey buildings – so what do you want instead... beige?! Lol. How do you feel about the electric blue condos on Stradbrook – that's far more garish.

Hard to tell if that's going to be commercial or common space, it's not very deep behind the glassed area. At most could be like cafe two-top seating.

I think this development will also look different over time. The wood on the front will start to grey and compliment the blue.

I love it too -- and I think it looks better in person than in the photo, so maybe people shouldn't judge it until they see it in real life.

according to PPP they've leased 60% of the Spot at East Village building (across from harkness station) since December.

Demolition on 602-606 Stradbrook appears to have started.

I know there was a render posted here of the apartment block that's to go on that site, but I can't seem to find it.

Three of my best friends lived in the downstairs half of 602 Stradbrook for several years about a 8 years ago. Drafty as hell, electric furnace with massive hydro bills, but damn if we didn’t have some of the wildest parties I’ve ever been a part of there. Great memories. It had a good life that place. Cheers to new purposes.

Just some construction fencing up, and some tree work so far.

Good shot, though I don't know where from. The only thing I recognize is 260 Nassau St. N. on the horizon.
