What are you on, I would be ecstatic if this was real.

Various West Loop projects:

What is this big crane for?

Thought this was neat... a concrete truck inside a warehouse building

Yellow crane in the bottom lefthand corner of that Wabash project... also am I crazy or did they just repaint the Lux apartment building? The red looks good. Red seems to be a growing South Loop trend.

Thanks for all the pics.

Even though the West Loop is on fire, boy it still has a long ways to go. Still a lot of underutilized lots

Good god is no one ever satisfied? Next month another office proposal will come out that will be a straight up and down rectilinear box and everyone will complain about how all architects phone it in and how creativity is dead.

Alta Grand Central looks pretty close to done? Not very exciting but not terrible either.

That’s the big parking lot at Madison and Des Plaines that we were discussing earlier this year. I think we will get a 700-800 ft office tower eventually.

Not sure if this was mentioned but Curbed is reporting that 301 West Huron was approved by the planning commission. It'll be fun to have that kinetic wall along the 'L.'

Me and my team are actually working on the renderings for this location! I'm not allowed to say anything but hopefully they announce something within the next month or two.

REJournals.com
Already another kinetic wall proposed even when the project with the first one hasn’t been completed?

Fast forward to an article from the year 2100:

301 W Huron will undergo a complete renovation, its dilapidated podium will be restored to its original 2020 glory, complete with the kinetic wall that was in place after its original construction.

I think the building is cool. However, my one big pet peeve with a lot of these large projects is the incorporation of "green space." I don't expect people to agree with me, but I could care less for these types of projects including them. They usually end up just being patches of grass, get used rarely, and create a dead space in the urban fabric. Now, if these people were building nice parks with fountains, trees, and a real urban feel I would change my mind, but its always cheap-looking grass patches in the end with some sculpture or something.

^I like the facade, but I don't care for the design. It looks like something we would see in Manhattan.

100% agreed. Lazy "green space" is nearly as bad as a surface parking lot.

Maybe initially an overreaction. I get a lot of these new funky designs on my Instagram feed, especially from other countries, and I just wonder where this "craziness" is going. Whats the point sometimes? There's some really twisted stuff out there these days. It's like they're just making giant sculptures and people sometimes go inside them. Whatevs.
