Yeah, we are generally on the same path as Montreal, and I was noticing that the wild grape vines that cover the fence surrounding my swimming pool don't even have any leaves yet. Most everything else here has some green on it but those vines normally by now would have leaves and tiny green-yellow grapes on them that make the entire pool deck smell like white wine.

yes, everything is about 2 weeks late here in SWO. But the mercury is hitting 30 today. 3 weeks ago we had snow.

Summer seems to have happened everywhere in the country now! This is such a great time of the year, everything changes so fast.

The last 2 weeks have been incredible in Quebec City too. Warm weather, the leaves in the trees (though roughly 2 weeks late), the tulips (on time) and now the lilacs and the iris(irises?) (1 week late though).

Anyway, the weekend was great and I decided to head out on a 21km "urban" hike.
Here are some pictures of the Rivière Saint-Charles linear park and Chauveau park. This is a 32km path network along the shores of St-Charles river, in the middle of Quebec City. It starts on the docks, in Old Quebec, and ends at lake St-Charles, in the north end of the city, and goes through the centre of the Huron-Wendat community of Wendake (see the picture with the small white chapel).
Chauveau park is a major natural area in the middle of the city, between the neighbourhoods of Neufchâtel and Lebourgneuf, and is reachable by the linear park. It's definitely one of my fave spots in QCC. On warm summer days, hundreds of people head there and enjoy the shores and waters of the St-Charles.

There are two sets of them, former CN or CP rail worker housing.

“Bubble Houses”: This set of unmissable brick row-homes along 102 Ave. is rooted in the 1920s, when they were built for the families of workers employed at the nearby railway and hospitals. But their most notable feature—spherical windows—weren’t added until a 1980s renovation by the Lord and Wolff architects, in an attempt to modernize the humble exteriors. Aside from the telltale bubbles beloved by sunbathing cats, newer residents have added beautiful landscaping, lush vegetable gardens and flowerpots that envelope the front stoops. (112th and 119th streets on 102 Ave.)

^ Gorgeous photos. I'm a sucker for a nice shot of Trinity... one of the most unforgettable places I've visited in this country.

Gorgeous. What are you thoughts on inter-provincial visits to NFLD in the early fall? your pics are making me seriously consider it

You might be able to get in at that time, if the courts rule our ban on non-essential travel from other provinces unconstitutional (which it is) and we don't appeal (which would drag it out), but everything is already cancelled. It'd be better to plan for 2021. June (icebergs, whales), July (partying, festivals), or August/September (warm sightseeing, hiking, etc.).

I'm hoping by Sept BC and NFLD will both have close to zero cases and we'll be welcomed by our coastal brothers.

Elgin Street, Ottawa looking south from Nepean Street. We're at the tail end of a two year re-build. Removing the hydro polls (new hydro wiring has been buried).

A look at Elgin Street this morning as we work to remove the overhead service. #ottcity @cmckenney

Couple more. First one is looking north from just before MacLaren and looking south from Nepean.

Very visually interesting shots.

If that could only happen here. They could start with my alley so I don't have lines cutting up my beautiful view.

For the first few yeas of planning, the City wanted to keep the overhead wires to save a few bucks. It was Hydro Ottawa that, at the very last minute, requested the wires be buried since the scheduled pole replacements would have been costly due to the site constraints (Elgin is one of the narrowest main streets in the city and would have required a non-linear pole placement), compromising the cost competitiveness vs underground and raising safety concerns for hydro workers during future servicing.

Exactly what Elgin St. needed. Thanks for the shots showing the progress.
