Doors Open 2017

Participated in my first Doors Open this year and loved it! Thought I'd share some of the pictures I got the chance to take.

From City Hall:

Scotiabank:

From the Dominion Public Building:

Always enjoy Doors Open each year.

This year, for no real reason I ended up visiting churches:

St. George's round church. It's amazing how well it was rebuilt after almost being destroyed by fire in 1994.

Here are some interior pics from the bottom to the top:

Just down the street was St. Patrick's with its impressive gothic arches:

Talk about contrasts... next up was the Little Dutch Church a little further down the street. Didn't get a good exterior pic, but here's one from 1949 on the Municipal Archives site:

Inside:

A little info from the plaque outside the church:

I believe it is the second oldest church in Halifax.

Nice information on the old churches. As far as I can remember, I have only been in St. Paul's, and that was decades ago, but I still have fond memories of it. I wish I had a chance to see some of the others.

These couple of pictures show the potential for development in the north end. It would be great to see those parking lots filled with residential developments.
