I think the traditional sense of the term "upper-class" isn't what was intended. Its true, William and Kate won't be shopping there whenever they drop by for a visit. East Point is, however, more modern and stylish than the other shopping areas around town - you can't disagree with that point (no pun intended).

It was the contrast between fashion retail and automotive retail that was the concern.

Personally, I choose not to see the contrast/conflict but rather how they can complement one another and improve diversity.

I don't expect that I will ever shop at Princess Auto but I'm glad it will be there for people to choose.

Home Depot and Costco are hardly what I'd call fashion retail, let alone stylish...

Sadly, the only fashionable and stylish area for any type of shopping in the province is Uptown Saint John guys. Suburbia is the furthest thing away from being fashionable

I wasn't referring to that portion of the site - although I do find Home Depot Orange an attractive color - its sassy.

I was using 'stylish' as a less extreme alternative to 'upper-class'.

Wow, tough crowd - there's no pleasing some people.

I find East Point in general to be pretty classy, compared to the rest of the shopping area. In any event, a mod should move the last page or two of East Point/Princess Auto chatter over the the Retail Thread. It's best to keep similar topics together..

I moved 13 posts from the Saint John thread to here that were relating to retail as per Michael_d40's suggestion.

Do we actually know where on the site they're going to be located? Eastpoint hasn't even announced them as a tenant as far as I can see, they aren't shown on their map, people jumping to their "yuk, it's a car store in the middle of all the clothing stores" conclusion has some of us scratching our heads as to why it's getting a negative reaction. The cities base grows, jobs are created both construction and permanent, residents have 1 more reason to shop here instead of hitting the highway and spending their money elsewhere. You're right, some people are hard to please.

I love it when I'm right, although it doesn't happen near enough LOL. Should be interesting when finished.

There's a tonne of land cleared near Mr Big & Tall/TD Bank... I'd guess somewhere in there.

Walking through McAllister place, it's kind of insane to see all the empty storefronts... Black's, Fruits and Passion, some Jewellery place, the former Bell Aliant store location, etc.

It appears there's a new construction box up next to The Children's Place. Anyone know what it is?

Here's a link showing the TJ article, and conceptual drawing of Princess Auto. Much bigger than I thought it was going to be.

According to the TJ article from last Saturday it will be the largest store in Atlantic Canada at 2800 sq metres or 30138 sq feet. Very nice building and great location.

Quite the extensive Retrofit happening at the Soon to be Target Location @ McAllister place. They Sure are not wasting any time,

From what I could see via a Side door open today the entire inside is gutted as I could through the Lawtons side straight through to the other side by Sears.

Looks like they have done some demolishing of the Overhang on the sears side. If you haven't been by there in the past week you may want to make a detour next time you're in the area. Has anyone come across any form of layout? I saw surveyers in the Parking lot by lawtons today as well.
