Am I too optimistic or is a smaller version of St. Roch Market possible?

The size of the Caesars one will on a square footage basis be much larger... around 17,000 sqft according to the plans

One detail that does surprise me is the two story atrium area. The curved ceilings and support columns definitely plays off of the architecture of the exterior of the old Rivergate. I’m impressed!

Just found the Link/survey about EV Charging station locations in the city. You all should check it out, and maybe the city can use the charging stations to help spur development and redevelopment at some eyesores around the city like Charity Hospital, Six-Flags, Lake Forest Plaza mall site and Lincoln Beach.

Copeland Tower hotel, a Metairie landmark, to become senior living facility; see renovation plan

https://www.nola.com/news/business/a...6b930fec8.html

Copeland Tower, the iconic Severn Avenue landmark that for decades has been perhaps Metairie's most architecturally distinct edifice, will soon be converted into a senior community, officials confirmed Monday.

Vitality Living, a Tennessee-based company that operates senior living facilities across the southeast, is partnering with Al Copeland Jr. and Al Copeland Investments to convert the 95-suite hotel into single-bedroom apartments in a location that will have a fitness center, restaurant, bar and other amenities, Vitality Living CEO Chris Guay said.

It will be called Copeland Tower Living.

The renovation of the 17-story tower with its circular top marks the transition of another storied Metairie locale of the middle and latter part of the last century. Barely two miles away, Clearview Shopping Center is being reimagined as a health care hub and mixed-use facility. Closer to the river, the owners of Elmwood Shopping Center are also planning a major makeover that will include residences as well as retail shops.

On the economic front:

A well-earned exit for Turbosquid. These guys have been one of the few prolonged success stories going back to the #nolatech days.

https://www.nola.com/news/business/a...764e72d76.html

Hopefully Shutterstock grows a presence here rather than close up shop. The move to more remote offices and the tax credits may help that. Fingers crossed!

That said, I still try to follow this board and djsnola tumblr (thank you!) even with Covid happening. I noticed some new office renovations and wondering if there’s word of any new biz development?

I was also wondering about the new office renovations around the CBD.
It was also announced that Gramercy Labs will be opening up a tech incubator in the city and bring some tech jobs as well.

Honestly, not going to happen over night, but the most obvious way for us to diversify the economy is in green energy/infrastructure. Since we've whored ourselves out for so long to oil and gas, which I still get is a necessity for the time being while the world transitions, we could be doing so much more to start an entirely new, just waiting to happen multi billion dollar industry. Coastal restoration would be huge start, that has to happened for our longevity anyways. I hope politics aside, everyone can finally see the light, because it's so glaringly obvious.
