What is the most beautiful or original street name in your city?

In Montréal, I pretty like rue Rose-de-Lima.

Vancouver has the ugliest or most banal street names (i.e. Commercial Drive, Terminal Avenue), so the most beautiful might be something obscure like Bellevue and Belmont. There are more recent additions which are colourful and interesting like Leg-in-Boot Square, but that's not even a real street.

Yes, it's backwards. There's also Station Street, Commercial Street, and Industrial Avenue, and how original is "Broadway"; where are the theatres? The most exciting thing on Broadway is Michaels Arts Supplies.

Most beautifully named street:

Toke Street (in Timmins ON)

Well not according to me personally but to many here in Timmins. Interestingly, back when I was a teenager, it was on that street that somebody offered me marijuana for the first time. I said "no thanks."

Hill O'Chips is probably the most original. Second is probably "The Boulevard". That's its official and complete name.

Less original, but not very common in Canada at least, is that our downtown cross streets are mostly coves - Bishop's Cove, Beck's Cove, Ayre's Cove, Clift's-Baird's Cove, and Job's Cove. We never used to have a street along the harbour, just cross streets ending directly at it, so they were coves before Harbour Drive was constructed.

Also less original, but equally uncommon in Canada, as the Royal Newfoundland Regiment fought in Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey during WWII, there are a lot of streets named for battles that loom large here but aren't really discussed in Canada. The Dardanelles, Malta Street, Cairo Street, Suvla Street, Suez Street, etc. If not for the connotation, The Dardanelles is a pretty street name.

In terms of just pretty ones... I like Bonaventure Avenue. The main drag through my neighbourhood is cute too, Merrymeeting Road. Carpasian Road sounds nice (the reference is Cyprus, WWII related again).

Cabela court in Moncton. Names after the Cabela's that called it home for a short time but closed down when Bass Pro opened up. Counsel still hasn't renamed it so it remains, with an empty building, and silly name as a reminder.

Not particularly beautiful but this level of silliness is pretty original.

And the Bass Pro Shops is (naturally enough) on Bass Pro Drive too!!

And, BTW, the Cabela's in Moncton didn't close down when Bass Pro opened up. It closed down about a year later when Bass Pro bought Cabela's out. Bass Pro didn't want two stores in Moncton.

I like Rockcliffe Driveway, the e at the end makes it sounds prestigious (even moreso the neighbourhood, but since this thread is about street names...). And I think there is also a “The Boulevard” in Westmount.

In Montreal:

Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges (= road of the Hill of snow)
Avenue de Chateaubriand (mainly because it’s a very aristocratic name for a quirky, very narrow street lined with century old working-class homes).

I know this thread is about "beautiful" street names, but I thought I would give a shout out to Wheeler Blvd, the inner ring road around Moncton.

The highway is actually named after former Moncton mayor Gary Wheeler, but I've always felt the name "Wheeler Blvd" to be quite appropriate anyway, given the fact the average speed on the highway is 120 km/hr.

I just hate it when they name streets for businesses to "thank" them for setting up shop in a city.

In Quebec, cities are no longer allowed to do this, though there are still some names kicking around from prior to the ban.

In Ottawa, the highway exit and road that leads to the Senators' arena is still named Palladium Drive. After the short-lived name of the arena. Not long after it was built, they sold off the corporate naming rights (initially to Corel I believe) but obviously the name of the road and exit was never changed. So now there is an Ottawa road inexplicably named for something like the 46th element on the periodic table. Though I assume the first Sens' owners simply thought Palladium was a really cool-sounding word that combined "palace" and "stadium", in addition to also sounding vaguely "Roman Empire".

At the other end of Ottawa, I believe the Sealtest dairy operation is located on Dairy Drive. At least they didn't call it Sealtest Drive, or Ault Drive (for the parent company).

Moonrock Ave. in Sudbury

I once met someone who had lived on Ragged Ass Rd. in Yellowknife. She showed me her driver's licence as proof.

I've always thought Garafraxa Street in Fergus was a really cool name.
