if they added just a little bit higher level of detail in the concrete work, this building wouldnt be half bad, honestly. i really love those railing, they bump the building up a notch for me. i too am very cautiously pessimistically optimistic

This thing's going to be gorgeous! Kinda old-world style, too! It looks like it's just a few weeks away from topping out as well.

^Ha! Exactly what I was thinking when I was lining up that shot: the real deal...and the pretentious substitute.

I just noticed that the roof is different. I took these from my apartment house, as I wouldn't want to go outside

^Nice close-up. The geometry created by the floor plates would suggest a different roof shape than that displayed by the renders, but they could still install panels over the plates that form a more simple shape, though that would be unlikely.

Edit: I goofed. I should have refreshed my memory and taken a look at the first page again: the geometry of the roof seems to correspond the current shape provided by the floor plates. It is also possible that I am talking about something else entirely. What exactly did you think was different about it?

^ Awesome shot, i_am_hydrogren. I'm especially grateful for The Clare from this angle.

The only difference that I was referring to was the more blocked in appearance, apparently ready for roofing. I didn't mean that the structure was different than planned. . . just different than a month ago.

I wonder if that is a double-height penthouse or a common space:

^ Gorgeous.

Big John looks so dominating from this angle. It makes Trump and even Aon look like its little bitches

^^^ Forget about the loop, that cluster alone would make any city in the world envious to have as their own downtown. I love the vibe and look of that area of downtown.

One more thing good I can say about this development: I find the overall massing of the tower from the west to be very attractive. I think it seems to capture the essence of the tall building in a very positive way. The proportions are quite good, in silhouette, when one can ignore the details.

Also, it doesn't look like the roof will be underscaled, which is a major problem with the Park Tower (as shown in Wrabbit's great photo above).

(Of course, none of this is enough to make me like the building, needless to say.)

Even as a South Sider, I'm jealous of it!
