PARIS - Northwestern inner suburbs, Colombes

A few shot taken with my phone in Colombes.
Pictures mainly taken in summer 2021.

Colombes is a northwestern inner suburbs of Paris.
It's located north of La Defense. It's a mix of two houses, multi storey residential buildings and towers housing blocs with little historic core.
It's a mixed income municipality.

1. We begin on Avenue de Stalingrad, it's part of a road linking central Paris to Argenteuil (a major nowthwestern suburbs).
Old small residencial and industrial/commercial buildings are being replaced by new housing developments.

2. Outside the main roads leading to Central Paris, it's is a mix of single family houses, townhouse and small apartment buildings.
Colombes and its surrounding is what you would call a streetcar suburb in North America as its developed along streetcar lines and railways during the late and early 20th century.

3.You will note that this pictures and the preceding one are not exactly in Colombes but in Bois-Colombes. Until 1896, Bois Colombes was part of Colombes.

8. Colombes train station opened in 1851, its current elevated shape date from the 1935 with modification of passengers entrances in 1988 and mid 2010s.
It is served by frequent suburban train services coming for Paris Saint-Lazare terminal. In 2019, Colombes station had 6 million passengers.

9.Rue Saint-Denis is the main commercial street in Colombes.
This part was still open to car traffic until recently.

12. The old town center of Colombes has renovated recently.
It's not so visible in this thread but you can guess by looking the background of this picture. A large part of Colombes old town has been demolished and rebuilt during the 60s 70s.

18. The former Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul church.
This church was demolished during the 1960s to enlarge the road.
Its bell tower being considered a local landmark remains.

Nice pictures! It's interesting to see suburbs from around the world, even if they may seem blander to locals or others.

Thank you for this glimpse into a relatively obscure neighborhood!
