I know a lot of people are sick of all the blue glass going up around the city, but there's a real need for even more of those in River North. I'd love to see a nice 750' tall blue glass tower go up at the Rainforest Cafe site.

I find it irritating that with no obvious plans to develop the lot that they don't make it in a Byrant Park Esque meadow to host sports or at least make it a dog park or something. It just sits there as a fenced-off waste as of now.

I'd love to see a substantial green landbridge actually one day connect Lake Shore Park and the Lake Front path someday, perhaps as part of the North LSD redevelopment project.
I think they are referring to that empty lot.

According to this article from last year, Northwestern has no plans to develop it into anything.

great shot!...what an impact is making in rivernorth...this will be same type of impact that JHC has for north Michigan avenue/goldcoast. On a side note...that formerly rock n Roll McDonalds lot has a 1000ft plus building written all over it!..I cant wait when that Mcdonalds decides to sell that land because it must be the largest plot of land in all river north!?

While looking at the above photo I too thought that there are too many white and gray buildings. Good to have more diversity.

When it was the Rock & Roll McDonald's I would have said keep it, but this new sterile location can go tomorrow and I'd be happy.

I gotta agree! North side chicago has plenty of room for a few more blue behemoths.

There is a post office of the same sized block SE of that McDonald's. I have always wondered (dreamed) that since the US Postal Service always seems to be on the brink of financial ruin that they would sell that lot and rebuild a new one somewhere cheaper and more modern. I feel like if someone were to offer $100m like JDL for the Holy Name Site maybe that could happen some day.

A) post office is not in financial ruins, congress forced them to fund their pension 75 years into the future. B) I have always dreamed that lot should become a park.

Ald. Reilly has said the same. Just lacking the funds to make it happen.

I will happily take more blue glass in River North. We need about 100 more blue glass towers in River North to dilute out the beige invasion of the late 90s and early 2000s.

I mean, we literally need to surround Grand Plaza with glass towers so large that one cannot even see Grand Plaza through the thicket of towers, it being such a horrid visual plague on the cityscape

-Portillos (I hope it stays!)
-Rainforest Cafe
-Caspian Rugs
-Lawson House parking lot
-Post Office
-Parking garage above Shake Shack

Question for the professional development guys: Dose anybody (after this Covid mess is dealt with) think there will be a large/tall office development....other than 330 N. La Salle or the old IBM building & NBC Tower?

The office epicenter has moved West, not North, as suburban relocations mean access to Metra is even more important. Most new office development in our lifetimes will take place along the Western edge of the CBD.

^^OK. When 300 La Salle went up, I kind of thought office development might move north. I see your point though and location to transit and commuter trains.
