While you're in SF, can you get a picture of Oceanwide to see if they finished the concrete on the rest of the ground level?

I'm not happy when they take these older buildings with lots of detailing and slather everything with the same color of paint. I was really sad when I gave the SF GLBTQ Center a donation for their beautiful old Victorian on Market St. way back when and then they did that ("puke" green no less), now partially corrected. I'd much rather see some contrasting color on the detailing.

As for the "skin" on the Mexican Museum, OK . . . fine. But I've asked this before and will again. The MM has been trying literally for decades to raise the funds to build out its space, which there have been various plans to get donated for just as long, and it hadn't managed to do so, at least until now. So does anybody know if these lower floors, designated as the MM, will remain an empty shell or have they finally got the money?

I'll throw these up here too, since with the different lighting, some of the three-dimensional texture of the skin of the museum is more apparent than I was getting from the pics so far:

hasn't wrapped to the Mission St side yet

I agree that the Aronson building looks handsome

Would it have hurt them to slap a little contrasting color (or, G*d forbid, guilding) on the column capitols?

I hear you; I guess I'm just thankful we don't have this any longer

edit: except it might have been nice to be able to preserve the ghost ads on the north wall

I remember participating in a demonstration (for gay rights?) in 1984 during the Democratic National Convention at Moscone and being penned up in the "free speech zone" at the far corner of that totally empty block where Yerba Buena Gardens are now. It felt very forlorn.

Wow that's beautiful! Love the way it changes texture from different angles and lighting.

If you mean me, I wasn't "hoping for" it. I just thought that's what we were getting and said it would be appropriate.

As for what we are getting, have to see it in person. I suspect photos don't do it justice.

And I'll ask again if anybody knows if the first 3 floors dedicated to the Mexican Museum will remain a hollow shell or if the museum has actually got the money to build out their space (which they've been trying to raise literally for decades).

And they could have used orange as the contrasting color!

Now that I've seen better photos I definitely like the metal screening. It's nicely detailed.

this was the first time I noticed that the swirl patterns do not repeat from segment to segment, and may not repeat at all. I'm impressed.

Actually, it's beautiful . . . but what's it have to do with Mexico?

I wish they'd put this on the Transit Center instead of what they did.
