Wow! Thanks Beaubassin! I was aware of none of these proposed projects you just posted.

Do you have any info as to how close any of these might be to breaking ground? On the previous page I had suggested 350 new housing units on tap for Shediac. With the other projects you have brought to light, it would seem we are talking about 600 new housing units on the way!

That's amazing! Shediac is urbanizing rapidly.

The entire area from Cocagne to Cap Pele now have a significant year round population compared to 25 years ago. Visiting the area every summer, I have often wondered if a Superstore or Walmart would set up in the town in the future.

It might be worthwhile doing a compilation of significant projects in Shediac, either currently under construction or planned. There is a growth boom in the offing!

1) - New Shediac Town Hall

To be built next to Trinity United Church and across from Pascal-Poirier Park, in the very heart of the downtown core. No render available (AFAIK), but construction will likely begin later this year.

2) - Homaris Eco-Centre

A tourism destination currently under construction next to the Plus Gros Homard and the tourist village at the west entrance into downtown Shediac.

3) - Quest Properties apartment building

Construction imminent on Cornwall Road in Chapman Corner in the west end of Shediac next to Canadian Tire. Very little information, but, wood frame and likely four storeys or less.

4) - Unnamed three building apartment complex

Located on Breaux-Bridge, next to the roundabout on Chesley Street, near the new exit from Highway 15. Each building will be 5 stories high and contain 89 units for a grand total of 267 units. There are no renders published AFAIK.

5) - New apartment building on Riverside Drive.

A 50 unit five storey apartment building with underground parking.

6) - A three building apartment complex to be built between Greenwood Drive and Main Street.

These buildings also appear to be five storeys, and, given the scale of the buildings, probably will constitute around 150 units.

7) - Four storey apartment building, McQueen Street.

Probable wood frame construction. 48 units total with underground parking.

8) - New Villa Providence Nursing Home

To be located on Beaux-Bridge, on the north side, near Highway 15. The home will be 190 bed. This project has been approved pending traffic and drainage studies.

It definitely isn’t the nicest of developments, though it does have a cottage feel to it. The woods and colour, give it that vibe. I’m the end it’s a nice infill for an area away from the “Downtown” area.

According to the T&T, the first of three apartment buildings being built between Greenwood and Main Street will break ground in June.

This 57 unit building will be ready for occupancy by the end of next summer.

Where is this located? Greenfield isn’t near Main Street so I’m a little confused.

Greenwood kinda-almost merges with Main Street at one point (W of Timmies).

You ARE looking at a map of Shediac, not Moncton, right?

Coming soon to Greenwood Street Shediac, this 57 unit, 4-storey non-combustible building will offer upscale amenities, technology and services incl. a gym, social room, café area in large modern lobby, secure package lockers, video property access control, secure underground parking & high speed internet.

The energy efficient & modern apartments will offer a mix of modern & spacious 1-2-3 bedrooms, all with work from home areas.

The site is currently being developed for a total of 3 buildings, with access to the nearby walking trail.

This is the site plan for the three apartment building complex:

Correlating this to Google Maps gives a location about 150M to the west of the double-wide Tim Horton's on Main Street.

They have started work on the Breaux-Bridge connector to the roundabout on Chesley Street

In addition, it appears that initial site prep has started for this apartment complex that will be built on this connector.

Apparently there is a 92-unit waterfront apartment building planned for Cap-Bimet (just east of Shediac). The Radio-Canada story on the project is (of course) focused on the neighborhood's opposition to the project. No renders but one resident is quoted as saying: "its pretty urban for the area", thus his opposition to the project.
