I think the "diamonds" one looks chunky though... like it should be much taller.

And it looks too out of place with the others to me. But if it were the tallest of the bunch, then I think it would work.

Silverstein raises another $2B for real estate lending fund

Development markets from New York to Los Angeles have some new money to play with.

Silverstein Capital Partners, Larry Silverstein’s real estate lending operation, has raised another $2 billion, the firm announced Monday.

The firm’s investments crisscross the U.S., including a $340 million loan last month for the Legacy Hotel & Residences in Miami — the third-largest construction loan ever issued in Florida — and a $236 million mezzanine loan in 2018 to JDS Development’s mixed-use tower at 9 Dekalb Avenue in Brooklyn.
Quote:
…”SCP’s lending mirrors Silverstein’s overall business strategy of investing in large-scale, mixed-use projects in growing national markets,” said Silverstein Properties CEO Marty Burger. The new fund, like its previous ones, will focus mainly on construction loans, he added

My feelings exactly, I have come to terms years ago that whatever gets built on this site, I am probably not going to like it if it isn't a Norman Foster designed building.

For those who might not understand, unfortunately this has nothing to do with Silverstein's development game but it is another very impressive achievement to add to their recently created lending arm. Silvertsein's lending arm helped to finance 9 Dekalb's construction for example.

Usually news is heard from Larry Silverstein regarding statements about building 2 World Trade Center but this time there is an update from a manager at Silverstein Properties Inc, Marty Burger, containing a statement that more or less confirms they are committed to building 2 World Trade Center.

Quote:
Silverstein, the developer of the World Trade Center complex, already is seeing demand in the area. “We will definitely be building 2 World Trade Center, and the market will demand it,” Burger said. “We’re seeing higher rents downtown, we’re actually hitting $125 a foot now, which is a number that was unheard of. We’re very happy with the energy and demand going on downtown.”

While some companies have moved offices from the city during the pandemic, partly due to the work-from-home phenomenon, Burger says large companies have remained and will remain because of what New York offers.

“The corporations want to be where the talent is and the talent wants to be in big cities,” he said. “That’s why we haven’t seen any major users give back tons of space. People will be using the space differently but they’ll still be using a lot of space. Office space will continue to be built.”

Uber Technologies Inc. and Spotify Technology SA, for example, are in 3 and 4 World Trade Center, respectively, Burger said. “Tech companies need to be everywhere,” he said. “They need to find that talent. That’s why you’ll see Facebook and other very large tech companies expanding in larger markets like San Francisco, New York and Boston and Chicago. You’ll continue to see tech thrive in bigger cities.”

Why was this building moved to vision? It is an active proposal.

The diamond topped design is the best but the low edge of the roof should be raised to the height of the roof of One World Trade Center. That way the pinnacle would angle up towards the spire which is what is considered the true height of the other tower.

Probably because another design showed up and somehow paused the about-to-resume-progress.

Not sure what prompted the question. What is “vision”? This is still in the Construction section, despite having been on hold for years.

At the very least, this thread, along with a couple of other threads here in the supertall section need to have "ON HOLD" added to their thread titles, as has been the convention here at SSP for over a decade now.

The Foundation is essentially complete, was back in the day for the original design. Issue has always been getting a tenant. Last major news with a potential tenant was News Corp backing out. If they went with it, would of been enough to get Ingel's (BIGs) design up and running.

The city always has competition with itself. What's going in in Midtown is rampant but doesn't always translate to Downtown in terms of tenant competition.

One might say given 1 WTC's success of filling up over time, possibly tower 2 being constructed before 3 WTC might of helped, but we could also be asking ourselves if that did happen, why 3 is not filling up as quickly or even rising.

WTC has a ton of tenants but unless they dramatically change the functionality of 2 WTC, a major commitment is required. OR they could build on spec, but there's always the risk in that. In theory.

From the renderings it is already going to have a higher roofline than 1WTC, which I find pretty funny.
