On the City Council agenda next week:

Why do you say that? The proposed ordinance would grant a change to accommodate the developer's request and identifies the ordinance as an "emergency" given the city's shortage of housing.

If that were the case, I wouldn't imagine the developer would be willing to build new streets through the property. It sounds like this project is still moving forward, it just has to do the road upgrades before the buildings can be approved.

Permits Issued

Looks like permits have been issued for two of the buildings in the Alamo Manhattan Blocks (also seen referred to as the Willamette Blocks and the Landing at Macadam).

Good news! This will mean another gap in the Willamette Greenway trail will close, right?

Eventually, although the timeline is a little uncertain to me. Per the Final Findings and Decision by the Design Commission:

Quote:
Prior to occupancy of the first building permit on the site, all greenway improvements approved under this review must be installed in conformance with Exhibits C.259 through C.266. Or, if improvements are deferred, a performance guarantee must be provided per 33.510.253.D.4.b and all improvements must be installed within 4 years of occupancy of the first building on the site. Note: LU 17-160442 LDS, condition C.2 requires the applicant to install, at a minimum, one of the required greenway trails prior to occupancy of buildings on Lots 1 and 4 (Blocks 41 and 44).

So excited for these to finally start going up! Tired of seeing those empty blocks. Can't wait for the SoWa skyline with these towers.

Oh nice! What’s the floor count of the first tower going up?

edit* looks like the tall white one is going first. Any idea when the black one starts construction?

I didn't get around the back to grab a picture, but they are both under construction. The shorter 6-story building will front S Bond Ave and the taller 23-story (over a 4-story podium) will sit between it and the river.

edit* the timeline for the black tower isn't clear yet, as this is being built in two phases. My guess is they'll wait until these two buildings are complete. These two buildings alone will add 574 units to the South Waterfront

I was going to say the two tall towers are under construction at the same time?! It’s 2005 again lol

But thanks that makes sense

I wonder if the addition of the grocery store to south waterfront will result in attracting additional residential development it seems to be the only thing the neighborhood is missing at this point.

I’m shocked it’s taken this long. At the very worst I can’t believe they don’t even have one of those small grocery stores like green zebra
