Perhaps downsizing to a condo or building a new home.

Baby boomers that are empty nesters who now want to sell their house and rent a nice unit will be tempted to cash in. If you own your home free & clear, selling now would put a nice chunk of change in your pocket.

Great location. They should get snapped up pretty quickly.

For Sale sign is down at Frank's Finer Diner and saw people working on it inside. Not sure what it's actually going to be.

Also saw a new store in West Hills plaza called "Buttercream Dreams"

It was bought by Go-Go. I believe they are planning to move their head office to that location

The Northside market will be reopening next Saturday at the Picaroons property on Union. Hours will be from 8 am - 2 PM to start. There are already 15 vendors lined up with expansion likely

Their Facebook page. Also contains a link to the TJ article on their new location.

Glad they found a home but the Roundhouse feels possibly too small for them. Good for the sellers I'm sure, and a good standby until a bigger/better location can be found.

Colpitts plans on starting construction next spring. No idea at this time what they plan on putting up but word is that it will be an upscale development, commercial/residential and will compliment the brick surroundings of the adjacent buildings. They have already removed some trees and are mowing the property

No doubt multiple phases. Will be interesting to see what comes of this!

Do you know if they also purchased the old train station property?

This is such welcome news, particularly that they intend to build an 'upscale' development. It would be nice if it had some height to it as well. Mixed use with residential floors above ground floor commercial/retail would be a good fit for this site. And of course underground parking.

Hopefully they'll release a project page outlining their plans soonish. It sounds like it might be big enough to warrant Freddy's second project thread. (Especially since Mount CARIS is still untouched; guess that won't be moving forward until next year at this rate)

The train station has been developed for about 8 years. Not changing hands.

Thanks for the history lesson.

It did change hands, for $4.5M, the day before the land around it sold.

Partners Global is advertising what they are calling "Flatiron Development Lands" adjacent to the Smythe St/Woodstock Rd roundabout. It's 0.8 acres which is enough for 52 residential units as of right. The conceptual drawing is a bit odd, with an open parking garage topped by a few floors of residences.

This is a great opportunity to build something striking at the western terminus to downtown.
