I don't recall their looking at developing in Denver; in fact I don't recall their being much of a developer although they may be the lead investor in projects. In any case it looks like Brookfield is now interested in being involved directly in development so why not buy a couple of companies that do? Looking down through the Google feeds it looks like they offered to buy the 2/3rds of GGP (formerly General Growth Properties) a yuge shopping center owner. Wonder if they're not looking more at future redevelopment potential? GGP has struggled for years.

Yep, they’ve done quite a bit prior to these acquisitions.

In Denver they marketed a 40-story-ish project behind the Pavillions prior to the Great Recession. Old Brochure

What a great infill building. Really suits the neighborhood and is a great addition to the Josephine streetscape.

Wow that is nice. So the nail salon at 3rd & Columbine isn't part of this development?

More details coming out on the redevelopment effort on Cherry Creek Mall East Side. The Container Store moves to the east side, as does Macy's furniture.

https://businessden.com/2018/03/14/m...ry-creek-mall/

The bigger news is the obvious effort to free up the huge west side of the mall for redevelopment. The table is now set for redevelopment. There was a rumor a few months ago about high-end condo/hotel development on the west side with Four Seasons opening its second location in Denver.

In February, the Denver Post had the following from Taubman, the CC Mall developer:

The future of building is more uncertain on the opposite side of the center that most recently housed a Bed, Bath & Beyond.

“That is part of a larger program for us to understand really what we want to do with the entire west end (of the shopping center),” Taubman said. “I think there is an opportunity to densify the west end. We need to understand what that means right now.”

Have to wonder whether a major redevelopment announcement is coming soon. Will be interesting to follow!

Definitely read "Macy's Furniture Gallery" as "Macy's" and was very confused about it moving from the "west side".

But I'm very excited to see what's in store on that side and to see all that parking potentially get repurposed.

However any confusion over Clayton Lane is presumably that of Smiley's. While Brookfield Asset Management may have bought OliverMcMillan and tucked it under their Brookfield Residential out of Calgary, OliverMcMillan still exists as a wholly owned subsidiary. Whether they specifically mentioned Clayton Lane among 'takeover chatter' presumably means nothing. OliverMcMillan still has a page for Clayton Lane on their website. http://www.olivermcmillan.com/places...7/clayton_lane

Wow, that looks purty fancy. Will it have a piano bar?

"Solera at Cherry Creek is being constructed on a three-acre site at 2453 S. Wabash Street in the heart of Cherry Creek."

Me thinks the author of that press release is an intern with surprisingly limited Google skills--or marketing ambitions bordering on fantasy. The address given has NothingZeroZilch to do with "...Denver's most affluent neighborhood." The empty lot at that address sits nearly at the base of Cherry Creek Reservoir dam. Yes, it's along Cherry Creek, but it's many miles removed from $$Cherry Creek$$.
