Fire!!!

This grass fire was along Highway 6 just outside Hamilton today. My wife and I were driving around this afternoon and saw the smoke. They intentionally burn the marshes back near my hometown, but I think this one was "wild" because it was a little too close to forests and homes. I think the fire department had it under control though. So here are the pictures (courtesy of my wife):

Cool. About 15 years ago my parents owned some land about 20 miles east of Austin. That summer Central Texas was in an extreme drought and there were wild fires all over the region. There was even a fire near the town near our property. The fields were pretty burned up and it took several days to put it out. That was really the first time I had seen anything like that, just acres and acres of land scorched.

I saw this smoke today while busing it in the west end. I thi nk these firse today may have been started from Hotspot left over from yesteday because last night I was rolled Blading along the Brow and saw smoke coming up from the general area and then today so thats my thoughts.

Pretty crazy though for April.

This was evident in a grass fire off of Hwy 6 that spread due to wind conditions and eventually involved approximately 81 hectares of land. Twelve pieces of firefighting equipment and 54 firefighters were kept busy for approximately 4 hours extinguishing this fire.
