Condé Nast sues Durst, Port Authority over cracked, grimy windows at 1 WTC
Window-washing rig is cracked, full of design flaws

May 24, 2017

Quote:
Condé Nast’s windows at One World Trade Center are so dirty, the company can barely see the incredible views that came with its $1.9 billion lease, according to a new lawsuit.

The company filed a suit against the Durst Organization and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, claiming that the windows are cracked and haven’t been cleaned since they moved in, the New York Post reported.

“I mean there looks like there is shit on the windows,” one staffer told the Post.

An attorney for Condé Nast told the newspaper that despite repeated requests, the developer and bistate agency have refused to “resolve this significant and growing problem.”

The Durst Organization told The Real Deal in November that the tower’s windows hadn’t been cleaned since 2015, since the system used to suspend the washers isn’t safe. The track used to move the window-washing rig is riddled with cracks and other design flaws.

Jordan Barowitz, a spokesperson for Durst, told the Post that a temporary rigging system will be installed this summer, and a more permanent system will be in place by 2018.

Watched an episode of Aerial America last night (it will show again tomorrow at 11 am eastern) and they surprisingly brought up the spire controversy. There was also a little bit on 432 Park Avenue. Great episode.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but this new building is nothing short of a dream come true. Too good to pass up. Now that building #3 is almost done, it will look better from the #1 observation deck. Had a chance to check it out last September.

Great pictures on here, way to go everyone who contributed. I visited the memorial in 2014 iirc and I thought it was well designed and appropriate as a memorial. I was never very interested in 1WTC, at any point in its design process. Libeskind's original was flimsy, and the guy from SOM (Adrian Childs was it?) did a number on it. This design was preferable but it is ultimately a very plain, conservative, almost design-by-committee looking thing. Not to sound nerdy but tbh the whole project has been quite a let down. 16 years later and it's still incomplete, inferior alterations and redesigns, and now already out of style. Thankfully the 'patriotic rebirth' or w/e angle died a quiet death and the public has lost interest in this project! Because it doesn't say much quite frankly.

Slowly but surely...

http://rew-online.com/2017/08/17/lea...t-3-e-28th-st/

The Durst Organization and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced Energy Capital Partners has signed a 10-year lease for 6,173 s/f on the 48th floor of One World Trade Center. Energy Capital Partners was represented by Eric Zemachson and Corey Borg of Newmark Knight Frank. The Landlord was represented by Karen Kuznick of The Durst Organization and Justin Royce of Cushman & Wakefield. One World Trade Center’s 381,668 s/f prebuilt program occupies nine floors with suites ranging in size from 2,100 to 27,320 s/f. Twenty-eight tenants have joined the program, including Energy Capital Partners’ new neighbor, Sailthru, who moved in earlier this month. There are 15 units remaining.
